Why do people think guns are so bad?

OK i just responded to a disscussion from a friend about how it shouldnt be right to use your gun In a crisis situation to protect innocent people before the cops get there. I think the world would be a better place if every person was trained to carry a gun, of course non criminals. That would mean every person would have protection in a crisis situation. What if we were overran by terrorist, if everyone had a gun we could kill them all before they kill us. If your house was robbed with someone that had a gun, going to your childrens room, you could shoot them before they get to your KID. If you had someone close to you that was killed by a criminal, maybe they would of survived if they were carrying a gun for protection. Cops usually arrive at the scene in about 3 mins at the least. In those three minutes lots of things could of happened, someone could of been shot, or the burgular could of been long gone by then. If i had a gun or someone in that place had a gun that criminal would of been dead or injured before he could of hurt someone, or run away. I know many may not agree with me here, but I would like to know your opinions
