What do you think, whether console, pc, or handheld, is the greatest gaming platform of all-time. Even though it has only been out about 3-4 years, I think the Nintendo DS is quickly becoming the greatest platform. It has many remakes on it, has innovative functionality and has the ability to be played on the go. What do you think?

It a tough call. Each gaming platform has good points and bad points. Some are good in terms of power and features and some are good in terms of the game library it boasts. Being the greatest of all time is tougher. Each of the console had different impacts in their own time.
Atari for example. The pioneer in gaming, at that time people got addicted to pong and was the most sought about entertainment platform. Generations of consoles have appeared but for me, there is one that stands out though time. The PC.
When new game arises, upgrading the video card, processor, platform, memory usually does the trick. It just gets real expensive and some games have not been ported to the PC. In terms of features, it can well catch up to any console.

The PC is very versatile and has stood the test of time. It's been interesting to see what has happened, but of course there is the inevitability that you will need to upgrade everything on the PC to meet certain requirements. Depending on what you upgrade, it can cost more than a console and you do miss out on some games, but that's the same with consoles as well.

Very true. A simple video card upgrade can cost twice a new console and some even go to the extent of buying two cards and have them SLi'd. It could really cost up to a thousand bucks.

I say the xbox 360. Innovative technology and it far surpasses any other console. Thats why I'm working to get a free one! Check out my profile!

I agree that the Xbox 360 is probably my second favorite next-gen console as it has a library that is rapidly growing and has many great games. Let's just hope that they continue to support the console for many years.

Well, I've played many systems but I'm going to have to go to the past and go with the NES. I'm more of a retro gamer than a new gamer but I like the new systems. Every system I've got, I've enjoyed. It's something I grew up with and has a major place with me.

I would say that the greatest gaming platform would have to be the X-box 360 because I have heard it has great graphics, and takes gaming to a whole new level, and plus it has the internal memory, and if you get the hard drive to have the ability to place original X-box games, that is why I am saving up to try and buy and X-box 360,and it also has a lot of great games, such as Halo 3.
