Do you find it rude if the cashier or clerk puts your change or receipt....

on the counter even when your hand is out to receive it? This happens all the time to me, as well as others I'm sure. You go to the store or anywhere really, and make a purchase. You have your hand out to receive the change or your receipt and instead of putting it in your hand, they just put it on the counter, leaving you to scrape it up from off there. I don't know if I'm the only one, but I have always found that to be a little rude. I'd just rather have it put into my hand. I never make a big deal out of it and remain courteous, but I have to admit it always irritated me a little bit. Is anyone else offended by this or do I not have a reason to be?

Nah, it doesn't bother me at all. I don't even notice if they hand me the change or put it on the counter. I know that where I work, we use cards and I will often hold the card out to the person when I give it back to them after I've scanned it. Sometimes, it takes forever for them to reach for it. So, I put it down on the counter because I need both hands to continue the transaction and I can't do the transaction quickly while I'm waiting for them to get their act together and take the card. They, and the people behind them, complain if we don't go fast enough.

Hi - yes that is true and I've thought about that. There are always those who are rummaging through their purses and what not and it would take a lot of time if the cashier just stood there and waited! I guess I just meant if my hand was out and ready and the cashier saw it and then put the money on the counter anyway. Thanks though!

Yeah, that would have been a bit rude. When I was more shy, I used to do that because I felt uncomfortable touching people, even a little. I don't know what I was afraid of.

I can't recall that happening to me. What I find annoying is when they hand you the receipt with the bills so that now the receipt is mixed in between your bills in your wallet - because you don't have time to stand there and sort them out while people are waiting in line.

It doesn't bother me. Only because I know a few people that don't like to touch others and this is there way of not doing so. You never know if they washed there hands...

Yeah that actually does happen to me sometimes. It gets kind of frustrating because I'm standing there like an idiot with my hand out. But then whatever some people don't like to be touched so I guess I can understand that. But then other times they just place it in my hand. I don't really mind anymore.
