How do you eat your hot dogs?

I thought that everyone ate their hot dogs the same way. I put on the condiments I like - mustard, catsup, pickle relish, and sometimes kraut. We sometimes make chili dogs, which are delicious. Today, though, while feeding my grandsons,I found out everyone doesn't eat them like I do. My 14 year old grandson asked for two hot dogs, which I fixed. He put his usual catsup and lots of mustard on them. I had fixed my lunch and sat down. Then I noticed he was doing something unusual. He had eaten off the bottom of the bun. I asked him why and he said that it tastes better with less bread and that makes you able to taste the mustard and catsup better. Leave it to a teenager to find a different way of doing things. I told him I suppose it didn't matter how you ate them, just that they were good.

sometimes I like them just plain on a bun. Other times just ketchup and other times ketchup & mustard. I can never ever eat them on bread though. And if there is any left over bun i can not eat it, I throw it out.

I tend to eat my hotdogs in a fairly normal way.. at least I think so. I don't put very much on them... I just have the bun, the hotdog itself, and then plenty of ketchup. Once I have that all settled, I'll start by taking bites... usually I wind up managing most of the top part of the bun/hotdog, but leave a bit of bread on the bottom sticking out (I have a small mouth). I usually have to stop to eat that bit of bread before I can continue.

I hear your grandson - sometimes the rolls can be too bulky with bread that it overpowers the taste of the frank and condiments. I made chili dogs the other day and we really needed a thick roll to maintain the goodies. maybe gs would like those new england rolls which look more like a piece of folded over bread?

all the kids eat them with Ketchup, I love ketchup, mustard, relish and pickles sometimes with or with out onions. I prefer not to use a bun, but its all good, the little ones are ok, but the fat dogs are better or those mile long dogs, Oscar Mayers are my favorite, or smoked.

The only condiment I like is ketchup, and I am pretty much in love with it. =] I mean, I put ketchup ON my ketchup! haha So, I normally line the whole inside of my buns with ketchup, stick in the hot dog, and top it off with more ketchup. I'll usually go back and grab another bun and fill it with just ketchup (no hot dog) and eat it. Yuuummmm :-D

My 16 loves it when I wrap hotdogs in pilsbury biscuits. I roll them out add some cheese, then wrap the dog. My son then dips his hotdog in the condiments.

I have sliced mine the long way and put them on bread.....but not something that I do often. I usually just slice mine on the plate and dip them into the catsup, the same way that my daughter prepares them for my grandsons, who are 3 and 4!

If we use regular bread, my husband will slice his, too. I always want mine wrapped up, though.

Hee. I love it with honey mustard. It tastes great. I also love it with chili sauce. People in my country can eat everything with chili sauce. I also enjoy jalapenos. It tastes great!!

I've never thought of honey mustard on hot dogs. I do like it on ham, though. I could probably stand the chili sauce if it wasn't too hot.

Hot dogs, are the easiest and filling for me. I like to eat mines warm and with ketchup and relish only. I prefer some jalapeno if they are avaialable. I do however, like to eat my hot dogs with soda only. It also has to be pepsi or coke only.

I used to have to have coca cola with mine. But, I usually drink ice water with most everything now, even my breakfast.

I eat my hot dogs with mustard only or the juice from the baked beans. I like them browned until they're almost black. Using catsup is sacrilege!! Yet, that's how my kids like them! And, no way will I ever put sauerkraut on or near my hot dogs. I do like them with chili and cheese, too, but I prefer the traditional mustard better. Baked with the baked beans is also a good way to eat them. My father used to eat them cold dipped in mustard. Never could do that.

I could never eat a cold hot dog. But, if we all ate the same thing the same way, we wouldn't be talking about how we eat a hot dog. We love to have baked beans with ours, too.

I am quite picky about my hot dogs. I'm not overly fond of eating them, which is probably why I'm so picky. I prefer Hauffman's, which is a local brand, and usually will not eat any other brand. I prefer them grilled although I will eat them pan fried, just not boiled or microwaved, no way! I can have nothing but pickle relish on them! I mean nothing, no mustard or ketchup, only relish! And I do prefer a bun, although if I have to settle with a slice of bread I will.

Left over bread or buns can be easily frozen to use another time. I often freeze my leftover buns (and the ends of the bread loaf no one wants) and make stuffing out of it. Bread freezes very well.

It doesn't pay me to put hot dog buns in the freezer when there is only two. They will usually get freezer burn before we use them. My husband and I just use loaf bread instead of buying buns when we are by ourselves. We used to freeze bread lots when we had an upright freezer. But when it gave out we didn't replace it because our children were gone from home.

I love grilled hot dogs. We usually use Ziegler's Jumbo franks. I don't know how you eat them, though, without anything but relish on them. Seems like they would be sort of dry. We do often settle for a slice of bread. When we buy buns, if we don't eat them all, they will usually ruin before we have hot dogs again. But with two teenagers here this summer, they don't go to waste.

you've got to love hot dogs!.tnx for the one who created it!. My way of eating hot-dog would be with a ketchup but here's the thing, i would intentionally overcooked a hot dog giving it a crisp effect. Can't live without hot dog.

I eat it with a lot of condiments too. I also like it when it has coleslaw on it.

I wrap mine in biscuit dough then bake them to make "pigs in blankets", but I will eat them nearly any other way as well. I especially like them without a bun; nearly any hot dog makes me happy though.

I used to fix "pigs in a blanket" when my kids were children. I had forgotten all about that. Maybe I need to try that for my grandsons when they come back next week.

I like it with saurkraut and mustard....then a chili dog next. I rarely eat a plain hotdog unless I'm with my little granddaughter who likes them plain!

We love ours with sauerkraut, too. But I don't buy it often since we don't eat that many hot dogs when we are here alone.

My husband just eats the hot dogs on a bun without ketchup he dosen't like ketchup. My son and daughter like them cut up so they can dip them in ketchup they don't like the bread. I like mine on a hot dog bun with cheese melted over it.

My 12 year old grandson doesn't care for hot dog buns. But, he loves hot dogs, so he will boil them and then cut them up and eat them with ketchup.(notice I have spelled ketchup as catsup in my original post, too.

I am very picky about my hot dogs! I can not stand boiled or microwaved hot dogs. I HATE them. So, I've been baking them in the oven. They're so much more flavorful that way. Most of the time, I'll eat them plain in bread. When I'm feeling especially piggy, I'll put ketchp, chilli, and cheese (in that order) on them. I must also have chips, fries or onion rings with my hot dogs. It doesn't seem right without them.

I don't care for microwaved hot dogs, but I do like them boiled. I haven't tried them baked in the oven. Might have to try that one day. I also like chips or fries with mine, as well.

I like mine without the bun. Sometimes the bun's good if you add a lot of relish and those onions, but I'd rather taste the hotdog alone without the bread. I love my hotdog hot of course, since it's kind of gross if it were cold or room temp. Also, I use ketchup with it. Mayo and mustard are second favorites to add but ketchup is a must have with hotdog. They go together harmoniously for me. :)

Another mayo lover. I suppose it's not all that unfamiliar then on hot dogs. My husband always wants onions on his regardless of what else he puts on. And he always wants baked beans with them.

With the 4th of july a couple of days away, hot dogs would be a great idea. I personally like my hot dogs done over a grill. With grilled onions and peppers.

We have an inside grill, so I may do pork chops and hot dogs. But there probably won't be anybody here buy me and my husband.
