Do you think some kids are not home school material?

This fall will be the starting of our 4th year homeschooling. I have had the hardest time teaching my middle child. (boy) Last year he decided he wanted to go back to school this year, just for football. I was against this even thou him and me clash. (Big time!, when it comes to learning.)My husband told me that it might be best because he feels that our middle child would do better learning under someone else. He may be right and I have signed him up for this fall for public school, but still worried about it. What do you think? Are some kids just not made out for homeschooling? I know that my other two are not public school material and they will tell you so. Thank you bunches and have a nice day!

I think all kids can be home school material. It's up to you the parent to take control of your child and lay down the rules. If a stranger in a room of 20 or more kids can teach your child surely you can. Check out this site that has information and resources on home schooling. http://about-home-school-programs.blogspot.com/

Yes, I absolutely think that there are some children that are not good candidates for being homeschooled. I also there there are some parent/child combinations that would not work out well. My children and I are the perfect example. My oldest was to high maintenance and high strung and I didn't have the patience or whatever to be able to homeschool her. My son had a different personality, but I would not have been able to homeschool him either. I had a difficult enough time helpling and encouraging him to finish his homework while he was in traditional school.

Thank you for your response! It does make me feel some better. I have always said, some kids are not made for home school or public school. But when it hit me in the face, it was a little hard to take. I really enjoy homeschooling. At 1st I did feel like I failed. But then I realized I can help him with home work and this will give me more time with my little girl that needs a lot od one on one because of her dyslexia.

kittenmc yes I think some kids should go to public school and also some parents just do not connect well with some of their children. Teaching is a p rofession that not all people are cut out for. some kids and some adults just do not mesh. you need plenty of patience and compassion to homeschool well and not all of us women have that much patience a nd compassion too.I am not belittling women at all, we all just have our own ways of handling our kids.

I agree! My middle child is enjoying school very much. Plus, it is giving me more time to spend with my little girl. Not trying to sound ugly to my middle child, but he just beats to a different drum and I guess I just need to let him beat his drum. (even though it can be hard at times!) Thank you so much for responding!
