B12 has become the new craze in weight managment. Men and women who get bariatric surgery are also getting B12 injections weekly and reporting inches lost. B12 is a vitamin that is needed for your body's function, particularly to make red blood cells and keep the nervous system working properly. It is also benefical to anemics in the absorption of iron. But weight loss? Weight loss clinics around the U.S. are touting benefits of B12 injections as a weight loss miracle. However, some doctors are calling this "miracle" a placebo effect. B12 acts as a stimulant and ebergizes the body. After an injection "anti stress" elements are transmitted to the body making B12 an effective cure for chronic fatigue. It's the body's response to the B12 that actually helps with the weight los , the need to "move". B12 alone without the excercise will not help with shedding the pounds. Recently a new cocktail has been created balled B12 with Lipotropics. this cocktail bontains B12 with co-enzymes; methionine, Inositol, and Choline; that are supposed to be required for proper metabolism of fats and have the ability to remove fat from the liver. The help with transforming carbohydrates into energy and help minimize unwanted water gain. however, these statements have not yet been evaluated nor confrimed by the FDA. Although the patients taking the cocktail are proclaiming results and at least an average weightloss of 5 pounds and ten inches, there is still some doubt. can B12 kick start your diet? I find this highly unlikely. I do however, belioeve it can provide motivation. To get the B12 cocktail a patient must go out of his or her way to go to a doctor's office two days a week, be weighed in, and get a shot in the gluteus maximus. yes the shot Provides a slight burst of energy, but so can a cup of coffee or a red bull.. The one thing coffee can not provide is a doctor fee twice a week and a hard look at the scale. Money alone is a great motivator, but having to see your weight on a scale twice a week should be a great motivator. The injections are not cheap and some doctors charge $100.00 a visit that is not covered under insurance. There is no miracle cure for weightloss unless you go to a doctor to get liposuciton or a bariatric band. Weightloss and maintenance take hard work and dedication. If you are trying to loose weight, there is no quick fix. Don't waste your money on quick fixes and miracle drugs. Stick to a reasonable fitness plan and a sensible diet with a multi vitamin. A little extra B12 couldn't hurt.

Sounds sort of like how B vitamin shots can bring some animals back to life if they're really sickly. But then, it doesn't work if they aren't already low on B vitamins. If they are low, it gives them energy.

This is new to me, I've never heard of this weight management program before. A doctor told me a long time ago that people only get a B12 shot when they have a vitamin B12 deficiency. I think I'll stick with my own way. But thanks for the information.
