Do you feed birds?

What do you feed them? Is it often that you do this? Why do you/do you not? I feed birds my more grainy breads if they happen to get a little old or if I get to the ends. All I buy is multi-grain, so it is very good for them. I do this when I feel bread is on the edge of becoming a science experiment. And I do this because it is better than wasting it.

That sounds lovely. I think that would be wonderful to see. I like it when birds come in our yard and pick at the ground, but to see all that. Cool.

When I was a kid we always fed the birds the ends of the bread. It was a good use of it because no one seemed to like the ends and they just went to waste otherwise. The birds loved it. Since I moved out on my own way back in 1974 i hardly ever ate bread so never had it to feed to the birds. I tried having a bird feeder once but it got to expensive for me to buy the food for them (I always seemed to have low paying jobs).

This is the way I think about it. If the ends are going to waste, why not toss them out and let something get use out of it.

I do feed the birds in my backyard everyday. I buy a mixture of berries, nuts and bird seed which I pour into a cute little bird bath I have....in addition to feeding the blue jays, robins and finches I also have a fat squirrel who thinks this is his private dinner bowl! He makes a HUGE mess out of the seed but I don't mind cleaning up the mess because I enjoy watching him so much.

I love squirrels. I am sure that at least one or two manage to find some of the bread occasionally.

Some years ago,the number of birds reduced gradually,it is a little hard to find them. These few years ,with the improvement of the environmental condition, the number of birds has increased sunddenly.Usually we don't have special intention to feed them. But they will eat grain through the kitchen's window.Certainly, sometimes you will find too many bird could also be a trouble, for example, the drying clothese outside usually are facing the threat of their excrement.

Well, we don't have too many. Usually 2-4. They know to stay clear of our yard for the most part because of the cats. I only put it out when I know Cheetah isn't going to be around.
