Are you involved in office struggle?

It maybe a sensitive topic. But it is reality to me. My direct leader has different opinion with our general manager. So they both always argue for some jobs. However, I am between them, and the general manager often blames me though I have not any mistake. It seems that he has not any ways to win the stuggle against my leader, so he finds any chance to embarrass me. In fact, the general manager has selfishness and he can't accept the right suggestion. On the other hand, my direct leader will not give concession. But to me, I feel tired with this struggle. Do you have good idea? Please share with me. Thanks!

I have words occasionaly with my boss sometimes over how I run my division. I let my employess decorate there work stations some and am always told to not let them do that. Aslo other parts of the company have started to go casual but I have not followed suit, I have been struggling with that for quite sometime now. My belief is that as long as the work is getting done and is done right that's all that should matter. But my boss likes to have things his way.

I agree with the comments that you should stay out of the middle. Don't take sides. When they ask you your opinion, state it professionally and if you wish not to be involved, just ask not to be. Then ask your general manager, why he blames you everytime they have an argument? That will get him thinking. Tell him he has a manager and they should be able to work things out without arguing all the time. I repeat - be professional and respectful - or you could be out of a job. If you are really unhappy, then it might be time to look for another job. But if you don't stand up people will always run over you.

hello wangzhuan000, i think the best solution for your problem is to find a work elsewhere. However, if you still want to work there, stay away from conflict as much as you can. I also recommend that you do not do anything that could upset your general manager as your position limit your power to express your opinion.

I can see how comfortless you are. But i am sorry i don't have good idea to help you. Maybe you can avoid your general manager or pretend to listen to him. In our office, department dirctor always listen to general manager.

its very uncomfortable zone to work. to resign & find another job are not clearly solve the problem, there always problem in any office you will headed. maybe you can talk directly to your leader, heart to heart, not with angry tone, just need a your leader's hand, how to deal in such situation cause you almost fed up with their war. or, gather all your courages and speak up to GM not to treat you as black sheep always. or, just simply quit from tthe office.

it realy depends on how important this job is to you.sometimes you can gain alot of respect by speaking your mind, but you run the risk of getting canned. If the job is important try to stay out of it and just collect the check. good luck
