Cousin Couple?

Have you been heard about a "cousin couple"? What do think the effect if two cousins get maried and got a baby?

I think cousins especially first cousins should not marry is because of big chances of genetic defects making it to your children. Everyone has some recessive disorders in there DNA, and if it so happens that you and your relative have the same the same recessive disorder, then your child will get it.
If they still insist on marrying, they have to invest in genetic counseling to insure that they are not both carriers of a recessive genetic disorder.

Really? Thank you for your responds, but how about 2nd or 3rd cousin? Do they still have to genetic counceling? Because I have a friend of mine and they have already their baby. Actually they are 3rd cousin I don't know if their child has a genetic disorder.

For as long as they are relatives the possibilities are always there although the chances are more minimal in 3rd than 1st and 2nd.

I personally know a couple and out of four children 3 are retarded. They should not have children.

Hye sircadio I think it is bad for both the couple as cousins are some how blood relation whether it is from maternal or paternal, hence marriage within blood relation is not conducive and later on it may pose serious problem to the issues. As far as possible such situation should be avoided, but in India it is restricted within certain community not enmass.
