"if you follow your heart, it guides you in the true direction to do what is best for you and those around you."

sometimes we want to follow our heart but the thing is very irrational..

i think more than following your heart's desire, you should follow what your conscience is saying to you. using one's heart is actually following the dictates of your emotions, this is what you say as irrational. however, if you listen to your conscience, the seat of morality and goodness, i think you will never go wrong.
well, just a thought.

True. The heart knows what the mind does not know. We all seem to know a lot - without realising whether we know it or even when we realise we know it, how we came to know it.
Please read BLINK - fantastic book which explains how the heart helps you to make the right split second decisions which the mind takes forever to make!!

there's a saying that God put your head above your heart so that you will use wisdom over emotions... sometimes, we tend to let emotions rule our decisions, and more often than not, we get burned and badly hurt when we do so... maybe, we just have to have both wisdom and emotions to make better judgment...

I think it's best to follow your brain. The Heart can be very fickle at times and you can get mixed emotions from it under times of stress.

I don't agree that your heart guides you in the true direction, I believe that the heart is too consumed by emotions to be trusted totally. You have to depend more on your mind, on logic and on what your faith tells you to do, while giving your heart just a little bit of say so.
