If you got free time then why not ask your friend out for a lunch or snake. Utilize the time to catch up and update each others life.

Constant communication with them & we must show each other love, trust & respect

The only important thing to maintain and good friends are you must LOVE, RESPECT, TRUST them. Without this you can't handle and maintain a good friendship with them.

communication is the key. even if you do not see each other often, a simple text message, short email or instant messaging can bridge two friends even at opposite sides of the globe.
