This all started when i went from working 5 days a week to one day every two weeks. Why did my hours get cut so badly u ask? idk... no idea... no one told me anything so i just went with the flow. Out of 2 weeks i worked on day and that was on a friday and the schedule is usually posted on thursday at the latest but when i went in i seen no schedule(that was wierd). I would have asked a manager when am i supposed to work but everytime i try to talk to someone they either blow me off or give me this "why the hell are u talking to me?" type of attitude so i just keep to myself. So monday comes and i still dont know if im supposed to work or not so i take the risk of not goin thinking they would call me if i didnt show up in the morning(i mean what job doesnt call you if youre not there on time?)also i had never been late or missed a day whatsoever. I didnt get a call from them not once all week but i went to get my check on friday and they said i was terminated. Im a young black male 18yo, living in a suburban area in missouri, mostly white populated, and i worked with older white people i say about 25-60 yo and i somewhat think all the unnescesary hate towards me was racial but me im not a racist at all. I came to the conclusion of them not wanting me their because im young and black basically. Do you think this is a racial thing? Do you think they did me wrong?

I don't know the people who fired you or what the work situation was like, but I doubt it was racial. I think they let you go because they're cutting back, anyway, because of the economy. It's possible that if you were one of the last ones hired that you were one of the first ones fired. But, I think it's horrible that they didn't even give you the dignity of telling you that you were fired to your face. They should have given you a reason, at least. I think that reflects poorly on them. I don't know what they were scared of.

no, probably due to the rising prices and people not shopping that much but even if it were racial, it would be very hard to prove. i wish you well in your job hunt.

yes i agree that probably why my hours were cut but that doesnt explain why they didnt call me for being late/not showing up period. Its like thats what they wanted me to do. Wouldnt your job call you if u were late or didnt show up? and wouldnt they put the schedule up on time not 2 days late? thanx for the feedback though : )

No. I don't think it's racial, I'm sorry you feel that way. Businesses are hurting, especially TJ Maxx. Go apply at Walmart, they're always looking for help.

I wouldn't say it was racial, if that was the case, they probably wouldn't have hired you in the first place. My thinking is that they had to cut back, probably thought you were the one who wouldn't be hurt so much since you are so young, and probably still lives at home, with no one depending on your salary but you. Did you apply for unemployment? They have to have a reason for letting you go. But then you said they were still hiring people. Call the HR department, and let them know that you would like to know the reason for your termination, it is your right to know. Here in NJ you can be terminated for no reason at all, just because they wanted to. Good luck,
