Honestly, it depends on whether they really need help or not. It also depends on what they need help for.
If my friend really needed my help, I would definitely be there. That's what friends are for.
Sometimes, when a friend has continued to make bad decisions, the kind of help they need isn't a friend bailing them out. Sometimes, they actually need their friend to step back and make them handle it on their own. It's the only way that they can learn.

Humanity, as a whole, is a selfish species. We look out for ourselves. I've learned from experience that people who need help often, usually will never help you. I've given friends places to stay and money on numerous occasions and most of those friends took advanatage of my hospitality. I don't speak to most of those people anymore.
