Paid good money for the honour of doing so! :)
The Monkfish has got a look that only a Mother could love, and I'm not sure about that either...
Chefs in great restaurants all over the World really love this fish, which is almost always never seen in it's natural state by the customer.
The wonderful tastes of shrimp and lobster delicately grace the flesh of this fish, and it is usually served as fillets or medallions. I like it when it's wrapped with bacon and shrimp fillets and delicately sauteed! :)
Forget the fact that it's got a mouth that can swallow a basketball whole, with room to spare, (No slights intended to my buddies In-Laws who also seem to have this feature) and a face that can stop Big Ben dead cold...
You have probably had one and enjoyed it, and maybe even purchased Monkfish at the supermarket and served it to your friends and family.
Did you know that it looked like this? How do you think your dinner guests would react if they saw a Monkfish before you prepared it for them?
Fun questions, deserve fun answers, so please share some with me! :)

yes is one ugly fish, but I doubt that I have ever eaten it before, I have never even seen it on a menu here in Montreal.

I'm sure that Monkfish is very much served in Montreal, Winterose...
This fish is adored by French Canadian cooks! :)

I am not a big fish or seafood eater, I wouldn't try something like that, at the price they sell it and find I don't like it,
and we are never near those particular restaurants, anyway, both my boyfriend and I are disabled so when we do go out it is nearby and very cheap lol.

I didn't know what a Monkfish looked like but I had to see for myself. When you said that it was a face that only a mother could love i had to see what it looked like. It's not a pretty fish at all. It looks scary to a degree and dark for a fish. I will take your word for it that it taste good when cooked. But i think I would past if I had to look at it first before cooking. It favors a cat fish a little but the catfish looks alot better.

It reminds me of one of those black plastic trashbags, with a big mouthful of sharp fangs! LOL! :)

These fish feed lobsters and other crustations, that why their flesh is so good to eat... Of course, you'll have to keep yourself from turning into stone, if you happen to look at one directly! :)
