No, students should not have less social studies in school, because it relates to everything. you can find a connection to social studies from anything. Let's take shopping- something everyone does. For people to shop, the products of the store has to be shipped there, people have to have money, and the stores profits add to the supply demand of the economy. Just shopping has so much social studies to do with it. Now you're asking, so what if it has anything to do with everything... Well, since everything does have to do with social studies, and you will need a job, a place to live, food, etc., you will need to learn about all of that, and how to manage all that. That is why you need social studies.

Justin16, a right amount of everything is needed for something to harmonize. I think that there will be a time where someday, lessons on Social Studies will come in handy. Just think about the positive side. No matter how boring it is...

I don't think so for social science lets us go back to our roots, look back at history and learn about and from it. You must also know important facts about your country, its economy, people and a lot more. Social science is a very wide branch of knowledge and it takes a lot of time to study all of it. I think what makes a subject enjoyable or fun is not just the content but the teacher and the interest of the child as well.
My child has a "not-so-good" teacher in Civics but since we love touring her around, her interest with about history, people and places did not change regardless of the teacher factor. Perhaps you must try to find out your interests and identify what branch of social science bores you.

Social Studies also is an important factor because certain sessions may include economy and countries and it's important to know the economy for your future life.
