How many years would you wish to live? How many do you think we should live?

If the average age of a human life in progressed countries is oaround 70-80 years, how many should you want to live? Less than that, as it is now, or more than that?
Or maybe much much more than that, let's say 150, 200, 500, or more?
Personally I think the life that we have is too short for the lifestyle that we have. We should live at least 50 years more, so we manage to finish our plans, to reach our dreams, and still have years left to enjoy life.

If I could maintain my health, appearance, and sanity I would love to live forever. Being that I can't (yet) I would like to live to 90. I know many people who at this age are living perfectly normal lifes on their own where they live like any other retiree. How many should everyone else live? Well this isn't really a matter of a number but a stage in life. A person should die when their biological role has been completed that is, when they have produced 2.4 kids. So basically after producing enough children to sustain the human population and of course raising them to the point where they can fend for themselves a person should die. Living after this point is selfish and only takes up resources that could be preserved or used for children.

I wish I could live until I was 105. I don't want to be suffering of any disease, though. I wish humans could live to be 200!

Apparently some turtles live to be 150 years old and some trees are thousands of years old.

If I could maintain my looks, my memories and my skill in magic I would like to live up to a 100 years and continue performing. However I wouldn't want to live that long if my life became full of disappointments.

Interesting questions! I would want to live forever. Like many others have said, in a healthy, youthful body, not more than 30 years old in looks and in energy, and health. In a world that's at peace, at unity, with lots of love. A world that's not polluted, where there would be food for all. But in this world till I could no longer care for myself where I become a burden to others. If the pain and suffering gets too much then let me go to rest. Wake me up when all our problems are solved and you could give me a new and improved body with all the bells and whistles.

Hello, Elenahap!
Interesting discussion, this one. I would like to live at least 500 years, with health. After all, I'd like to see what is going to become of the World we live in nowadays, the changes, the technology... But unfortunately nobody lives so much. I think that we all should live until the day that we don't want to keep going anymore. After all, when you lose all of your friends and all your family, you must feel sad and want to live this World. I think it's how it should be done. But it isn't, we have to accept the idea that we all are going to die sooner or later.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

I only want to live as long as I'm able to be active and independent. After that...I hope i just go quick. I don't want a nursing home and I don't want to be a burden. I don't want to live in a bed or a slave to a ton of meds. i don't care about the length of my life but i do care very much about the quality of it.

If I could stop physical aging when I hit 30 and stay the same in my mind and body then I would say that I would choose to be about 80. I think that is more than enough, we all get to 80 and then lie down and go to sleep and never wake up again. No nasty illnesses, no suffering and no young deaths.

I want to live as long as possible. Sounds greedy right? I want to influence the world and attain my goal.

For as long as we have the power and youth that we have at twenty to thirty-five. May be even forty. Nothing more than that. What is the meaning of long life without ability.

If I had a healthy body I wouldn't mind living to be 100 or older, as long as my mind and body stayed strong. However in this current life, I'm not lucky enough to have a healthy body so I doubt I'll live to an old age. And truthfully, there are days when I'm ok with that.

Everyone wishes to live a long life. I wouldn't mind living til i get into my 60's or 70's. But, if i lose a loved one close to me like my husband or a really close friend then i wouldnt want to live that lone alone. But, life like you said is too short. But, you have to make the life you got worth while and make the most out of it.

I'm 38, I only would like to live long enough to see my children flourish in their chosen careers. They are now only 13, 11 and 5 and they have very different personalities which I cherish a lot! So, The eldest wants to be a chef and astronomer, the second wants to be an animation artist for Walt Disney and the youngest would like to be a doctor and a race car driver. Ha,ha,ha! Boy, I would like to see all their dreams come true. And when they do, then I can go in peace knowing I equipped them , cheered for them and brought them as near as I could to their destiny.

I would want to live as many years where I can still be somewhat active and not confined to a bed. If I do suffer some disease late in my life, say 90+ years, then that's all that I want to live. I think that all people should live until they aren't able to do anything active anymore. And no, I'm not talking about sports or anything like that. I mean going out, visiting with family, all of that stuff. Once all that is taken away from you, what else is there to live for?
