Stars?

Star - A star, similar to the ones people have on MyLot. These are next to their name. I am asking a question on how people get stars.

I was looking through responses to a few questions, and could not help but to notice colorful stars next to people's names. These have a number inside of them. It seems like the numbers go from one to ten. Now, I know alot of people have stars, so any responses to this question would be helpful. I have two guesses on how stars are accumulated. 1) Stars are gained on post count. It seems like people with more posts have a higher star number. 2) Best responses- again with the amount, but these are the most helpful people. So, in the rare case I am right, tell me, and if not, tell me the real meaning of stars. Thanks

Neither one is true, to the best of my knowledge. If you pause upon a star with your mouse, soon you'll see a message "Mylot rating of --/100" appearing beside it. This is the rating of that user which has been decided by other myLot users themselves. If someone rates your started discussion positively, that is by pressing the "+" button to the bottom right of the contents, your rating will go up. Thus, a person with post count as high as 1000 may have a star with a rating of only 67/100, whereas a person with a post count as low as 150 may have a rating of 95/100. I hope I am right, and if I am not, anyone is welcome to correct me.

Thanks for your help. I helped you out on your stars by the way by giving you a positive. I now know what they mean, and now I can help people out who help me.

ahh the stars.. see those little + - ! thingys next to everyones posts ? you clck the + to rate that persons comment/discussion positive and - of to rate them negative or the ! to report the person for tos violations.. the stars next to everyone snames is based on the amount of positive an negative ratings they get from other lotters. in a nutshell.. they are popularity rankings... youll get yers if youve earned favor after youve reached yer 100th post. if you please.. minus this comment of mine.. im trying to get rid of the star and get out of this juvenille high school fueled contest to beone of the "popular" kids. thanx

Thanks- I gave you your negative. I like what you are doing. How you are not caring about the popularity. I'd be fine if I got no stars if I am still helping people out.

The stars on here, are reflecting to our Ratings, and as to how people judge us on here as well. Once a person reaches 100 on here they get a Star. The higher the number in your star, the more people will like you and Trust you and want to keep on responding to all of your New discussions as well. Hope this is of some help for you, and wishing you the best.
