What's the dumbest thing you've done recently?

Have you done something that was so dumb you can't stop thinking about it? The other day I was cooking and tried out some new items from my refrigerator. There was some onions, squash and an interesting red pepper. I guess my spouse purchased the item, because I didn't recognize it. It look suspiciously like a red bell pepper. So, I cut it open and gave it a sniff. Didn't smell like a red bell pepper. In fact, it didn't have any smell. So, I didn't think anymore about it and cut it up to add to the dish. Then about ten minutes later, my face started burning. I guess that I must have rubbed my face. It felt like the whole nose/mouth area was on fire. I grabbed my Noxzema and smeared it everywhere and the burning went away after about ten minutes. Turns out, the funny looking red bell pepper was actually a red jalapeno pepper. So, I guess the dumbest thing I've done lately was smell a jalapeno. Honestly, I had no idea that's what it was, when I put it that close to my face. But certainly the kind of thing that you only do once in your lifetime.

Bees are a good thing, they pollinate our forests and other plants.

I couldn't forget this one dumbest thing I did when I woke up one morning. I went to the bathroom to brush my teeth but instead of using the toothpaste, I squeeze my cleanser on my toothbrush and brushed my teeth with it. I only realised that I used the wrong paste when it tasted funny and slimy on my tongue. Now I always remind myself not to look at the mirror while pressing the toothpaste.

I got one for ya. I decided that I would like to try hair extensions. However the price is unbelievably expensive. So being the DIY-er that I am, I decide to buy everything I needed to make and apply them myself. So I buy the hair, the heat wand, the whole kit and kaboodle and it only cost me about $60 bucks. A tiny fraction of what it would cost me to get them done professionally. So I'm sitting here on my couch everything sitting on a wooden box on my lap. It was fairly awkward and I should have taken it all to the kitchen table but I was watching TV of course. Twice I bumped the handle and knocked the heat wand over reaching across the box to grab the hair. Now you'd think that after knocking it over twice I'd learn to move it to a better spot BUT NOOOOOOO! The third time I knock it over I caught the 280 degree heated end of the wand with my arm and heard the sizzle of my skin getting fried! I now have a lovely triangular shaped scar on my arm that will probably never go away. At least you didn't know it was a jalapeno! I knew the heat wand was hot!

I know the feeling. Some months are that way for me too. You had that thing happen to your cat and that was really bad. Is your mom feeling better? I hope so. I remember reading all your discussions from awhile back but then lost track. I hope that everyone is better now. Did they ever find her wedding rings and purse?

Please don't take me wrong in this either but I was wondering what happened to everybody because I had put up another discussion and it only got one response and the one before that only got four I think.... I'm thinking I scared everyone away.

My apologies for not attending your most recent discussions. Don't worry. You haven't scared anyone away. About the time this discussion was posted one month ago, I started getting bad hand pain. Similar to what a person experiences with carpal tunnel or arthritis in the hands. I've been forced to type less and visit Mylot less often. Some days, I type so much that my fingers feel as if they are being constantly bitten by ants. It's hard to describe the pain. I can't type for more than an hour a day now. I'll try to get to your discussions better now. Please, drop by on occasion and remind me to come by your discussions. I won't be offended. Thanks for coming by. Always nice to talk to you.

Oh I do dumb stuff all the time. LOL I usually blame it on being blonde. :P The only thing I can think of lately is the other day I needed something from the dryer and went to get it. My laundry room (I live in a mobile home) is outside, and thru my screen porch. I had just showered and wrapped a big towel around myself and dashed out to get some clothes from the dryer. Well just as I stepped outside I realized two things. One, my neighbor lady was outside watering and two my towel was falling down. She just laughed and I turned beet read. Thank goodness it wasn't her HUSBAND out watering.

The dumbest thing I have done lately was give our NEW computer the Trojan Horse virus and then cancel the virus scan which we had waited all night to run because I thought it was done. Pretty dumb, I know...

Well dumbest thing that I have done lately is to allow common sense to completely dessert me by wasting money. I am hard up on cash but I still take a cab everyday to and from the office. I can't seem to help myself even if I no longer have money and the next paycheck is still days away. Gosh! I felt to irresponsible!

I have done so many dumb things lately it is hard to pick just one thing, lol I guess maybe one of the dumbest things lately is I have for some reason developed a crush on someone and that was not a good idea, now if I could just quit thinking about this person I would be doing so much better, lol as for doing dumb things only one in a life time if my life is any indication I would say to be wary of doing lots more things I even accidently sprayed cooking oil all over me once, and this right after I had gotten out of the shower and cleaned up and was getting ready to go some place. LOL as I said I have done lots and lots of dumb things.

Hello dear beauty queen. I am sorry that you had your face started burning after cutting up the red bell pepper. Well, I have to say that you are not alone there. I had the same experience as you had. It is really very burning when we have rubbed our face or elsewhere on our body. I am sure that you will be more careful next time and so will I. lol

Yeah, I'm fine. Thanks. I was lucky that I didn't get poisoned. The pepper turned out to be a jalepeno pepper and our government just linked those to a nationwide outbreak of salmonella poisoning. I guess I'm lucky that I didn't get sick. Cause I did nibble the raw pepper, just to see what it was going to taste like.

Posted on this site. I am serious. I have a problem - keep doing it. Sorry it is not the sort of thing I only do once in my life - but it is the dumbest so there you go.

Similar to your experience. A few years ago the family bought a flat (24) of plants that were labeled bell peppers. We planted them and took care. We had lots of flowers that began to turn into fruit. The fruit really didn't get as large as we wanted (about 2") so we let them finish out the summer before picking them and they turned red. My wife went and picked about a bushel of them one afternoon. About an hour later she had tears running down her face from her burning hands! It turns out the "bell peppers" were really habaneros that somebody switched labels on. It took two quarts of buttermilk to ease the pain.

The other day I was fixing myself a glass of ice water, when my toddler came up to me with his cup. He wanted a glass of ice water, too. So I set my cup up on the top of the refrigerator, and opened the fridge, and poured him some water. Then, without thinking, I opened the freezer to get his ice, and dumped my own cup of ice water all over both of us!

The other day my phone was ringing and I tried to run down my stairs to get it, but I flew down them instead and I broke my big toe. After about 2 hours of throbbing pain, I go and stumble on a peg sticking up in the yard, and injure my toe again. Talk about painful. It never stopped throbbing, after that one, for about 10 hours. Now it is eally sore but no longer throbbing. It has been two days and I am being so careful I don't fall again or stumble again. Pretty dumb huh.

I did this just last summer..i was wearing a sunglasses then when i noticed my black bag looks faded..so i turned it sideways, turning it into its back and so on..then i said to myself what happened to this? i can't recall anything that may cause its fading then i suddenly remember i was wearing my sunglasses that is why it looks a bit red and faded. so silly of me..of course that will look faded because of the color of my sunglasses lenses..
