Hi All, I have noticed one thing that many people cover their head while sleeping and today i did it because its cold out here so cant use fan and our mosquito repellant was not working, So had to cover myself but due to that i was unable to sleep properlly. Experts say covering the head incerase the concentration of carbon dioxide and decrease concentration of oxygen that may lead to brain damaging effects. Other reason which lead to brain damaging are: Smoking, air pollution, High sugar cunsumption.
Yes Its true today when i woke i was not fresh. Do you cover your head while sleeping? are you able to get proper sleep if you cover the head? share with us!!

I do cover my head sometimes. If I wake up in the morning and actually decide to go back to sleep, I definitely do, because it is very light in my room. As a child, I used to hide under my covers all of the time. I still get rather paranoid easily, and I do it as a defense mechanism that has carried over from my childhood. In hindsight, I realize that if someone were to come bursting through my door, hiding under my blanket will not do me much good. Sometimes, I even think about that while I am under my blanket, but I still continue to do it anyway.

A lot of people do not realize that things can subconsciously carry over from childhood. Some people get Dissociative disorders (such as Multiple Personality Disorder) because of childhood trauma, such as abuse. And, it is reasonable to fear a bug in the ear, they hurt!

I know what you mean, when i was a child i had a constant fear a bug was gonna crawl into my ear while i was sleeping and thus i always sleps with my hand over my hear or my pillow over my head. Now that im a bit more grown i know that odds are buggs dont go crawling in peoples ears that much but i still cover my head sometime when i go to sleep, its comforting.

Never, I can't breathe. The more important question is; where the heck in this world are you? The temperature here is extremely hot. I'm in Houston, Texas, and without air conditioning, rest would be next to impossible. I think last night was around 87 degrees.

I am not used to cover my head when I am sleeping. I always have blanket even if it's quite hot during summer but it is only up to my hips...I can't sleep if it will cover my chest part much more than if it covers my head! I have also cousin before who can't sleep without covering his entire body...He has no complain though but thanks for this information about the side effect of it, I will relay this to him!

I don't cover my face; but I do cover my head. It makes me feel warm and that's the only way I fall asleep.
Cheers and happy mylotting

I won't conver my head when I'm sleeping becuase it will cause me cannot breath.
If the light annoyed m sleep, I will just switch it off. But the morning sunlight cannot be avoided. I will automatically wake up on certain time, I can't sleep until to late in the morning.
Try not to cover the head to sleep, it's not a healthy habit.

I often will cover my head at least partially when trying to go to sleep. My husband likes a fan blowing on him at night. I don't. So often, I will pull the covers up over my ears and tip my head so that my nose is out so I can breathe. If I cover all the way and don't leave an airvent, I get the worst headache in the world before morning.
I also cover my head when he wants to watch a movie and I don't. I will cover all the way then and ask that he uncovers to my neck when he goes to sleep.

I can't sleep with my head covered, I just get too darn hot. However, I do sleep with ear plugs. I'm a light sleeper and every little noise bugs me. Dripping faucets or ticking clocks are the worst. I also sleep with an oxygen tube at night now. They discovered two weeks ago that my O2 levels are dropping to dangerous levels while I sleep.

I can honestly say that in 99% of the nights I sleep with my head uncovered. The only time I do cover it when it's early in the morning and the sun is peeking through the curtains. And even then it's not for long.

Hey yes i forgot, taking blanket overhead is not that dangerous than the snoring. atleast we will be able to sleep with a blanket but with a person snoring beside will not let us sleep.

hey yogeshdhusa You are right I am also in the habit of cover my head fully while sleeping irrespective of any season whether it is winter, summer or spring. Without covering the head I can not sleep properly. I do not know whether it is good or bad habit, but since my childhood I am doing so.

To fall asleep, I do cover my head but only the top and my eyes. I can't stand to have my mouth and nose covered...I have to feel the coolness of the air on that part of my face. My husband thinks I am crazy to fall asleep like that but that is what is comfortable for me.

I never cover my head while sleeping and neither should you nor anybody else who wishes to be healthy. Covering your head while sleeping limits your oxygen supply. Since you breathe in oxygen and give out carbon dioxide, the amount oxygen under the blanket(depending on the thickness) further reduces. Hence you would be breathing in more of carbon dioxide and very little oxygen. Oxygen is vital for cells in your body to function and without it(for extended periods) they die. As you might be aware that you are entirely made up of cells from head to toe, it is very dangerous to be killing tiny parts of you.
