What are you doing for the Fourth of July?

Two of our daughter's sons have been with us awhile this summer. I took them to meet their sister this afternoon. They are usually here for the 4th and shoot fireworks with Papa. But Mom had not seen them in awhile, so she wanted them home. And she's also going to take them to see fireworks. So they'll enjoy that. They wanted to buy some to take home, but I didn't let them.
Since they aren't here, I think I will grill some pork chops on the inside grill and make some tossed salad. I also bought some strawberries and will probably have strawberry shortcake for dessert. I sort of splurged with the strawberries, they have gotten so high. I had almost decided just to have a big tossed salad and add some boiled eggs, but decided to buy pork chops at the last moment.
Usually, on the 4th, we have our kids and grandkids here. But, two of our daughter's children are grown and work and have boyfriend/girlfriends. Also, our granddaughter has to work from 2 until 11 tomorrow, which is terrible for a young person. So, since nobody is going to be here but us, we will have our lunch and then just take it easy for the day. Well, I'll probably be computing and I'm sure my husband will find something to do if it's nothing but playing his guitar.

My husband had to go to work this morning, it will be his first time at work since Monday as he's been taking some time off to help me out. It should be a short day for him, he's only got a bit to do then he's coming home, hopefully around noon. Later we're going to grill some burgers and I will make strawberry shortcake as well. After that we'll be going down to the fairgrounds to watch the fireworks. That is our family tradition.

I know those shingles are horrible. I remember when my Dad had them. He hurt something terrible until they really broke out on him. I'd be like you, too, and stay home. Hopefully, you can do something for them and enjoy the fireworks display. Wish we lived where we could see them without having to travel a ways. This year we won't be shooting any, either, since none of our grandchildren will be around.
