My Mom surprised me!

I am shocked! My mother, who has a nasty history of being homophobic, said she would go to parade pride at home in Harrisburg, PA (where we're from) with me on July 26th! Sure, she has to go to concert for the day, but the fact that she even offered. Who would've thunk?
She even knew what I was talking about when I said I wanted to go an event. As I was to chicken to tell her I was going to pride parade. I think her hairstylist told her about it! I'm a happy girl right now.

I have a friend who's mom was very homophobic and rebublican and all the stereotypes that go with that
but when he came out to her she even went as far as to join gay rights groups
his mother must really love him.
and it sounds like yours loves you too.

Actually my mom chickened out. It was the whole "What the neighbors think?" thing again. I was so annoyed; I ended up not going for the event at all. Maybe next year, if I budget better. Then I can go home and not care what the neighbors (or my parents) deal is.

I dont know your whole situation but it doesnt sound like she was to accepting in the past. It sounds like she's starting to come to terms with who her daughter is and still wants to be part of your life!! This is very good news!! Congratulations!!
