Suppose you are very thirsty and you wish to have some liquids, given the choice, which one one would you choose, plain water of a soft drink? I have seen many people opting for a soft drink, when they are very thristy. I would prefer to have simple glass of water, instead of a soft drink, because I feel, a soft drink may not be able to satisfy my thrust. Please share your choice with me. Thanks to all in advance.

It would be WATER. no issues at all. I feel, no other drink can quench our thirst better than water itself. And we cannot do without this tasteless, formless, colorless liquid. I think the best things in life comes like this - simple, unnoticed yet all pervasive, easily diffused in anything and everything and most essential. That's much like friendship....

I am glad that you liked the comparison. But isn't it beautiful how the two basic, best things in life are so simple and we cannot do without!

You appear like me. For me glass of water is more satisfying than a glass of soft drink, I feel soft drink does not quench my thirst. Soft drinks are no substitute for water. I agree with you thought water is formless, colourless and tasteless but it gets mixed up with anything and everything like friendship. YOu have made an excellent comparison between water and friendship. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a great day!

If I was really thirsty I would prefer to have a cool water to drink than a soft drink with ice. A lemonade tastes lovely but it would be full of sugar and not satisfy my thirst. I have always liked drinking water because it tastes delicious and is a healthy option. I know that water will satisfy my thirst after a long walk.

water - my favourite thirst quencher
A glass of water Deepak, nothing else. Nature created water to quench our thirst, if cold drinks could do it, it would not be so expensively marketed by MNCs. Cold drinks are sweet and they increase the throat irritation and hence you feel all the more thirsty. This happened to my son also. With the onset of summer, I had bought a big pack of glucon D and was giving him water with glucon D at school. Initially he like it for some days but then he wanted plain water. He said the sugar in the glucon D made him more thirst. Nothing comes close to pure plain water…not even coconut water.

Sudipta, You appear like me and your son too...LOL! For me a glass of water is more satisfying than a glass of soft drink, I feel soft drink does not quench my thirst. You are right that soft drinks cause irritation in throat. I am not sure if coconut water cannot quench our thrust, I feel, atleast it is better than soft drinks. Many thanks for sharing your thoughts. Have a great day!

Water makes my stomach feel sick if I'm really hot and thirsty so that's why I go with a soda at first. I usually drink the soda just to quench the major thirst but the follow with a glass of water since it's the only thing that will actually keep me hydrated.

maybe if you're drinking tap water it's the chlorine or another additive in the water that makes your stomach sick. since a child, tap water hurt my stomach.

We don't and never have been on town water with chlorine or other additives. It actually has to do with the coldness...I don't know the exact medical explanation but ice water is not good for an over heated system.

Gatorade would be my first. Last summer I was so dehydrated that I could not feel the water when I poured it on my tongue. I was scared that I might need to go to the emergency room. But Gatorade brings me back a lot faster than the water. I think it hast to do with the Electrolytes.

I am so silly. When I type on Mylot sometimes, I just assume that everyone is in America and knows what I am speaking of. Gatorade is a thirst quencher that works really well. I believe that it is the best one that we have here in the states.

If I was very thristy i would op for Water a soft drink has too much sugar and makes me more thirsty. But If I was feeling rather weak and shaky I would need a sugar fix but would still need a glass of water afterwards.....

Hi deepak! I would prefer to have a glass of water just like you. Sodas or soft drinks don't really quench my thirst, it just makes me want to have a glass of water all the more so I can wash away all the sweetness in my throat. Take care and God bless!

I prefer the soft drink as I don't really like plain water. Now if it was flavored water, I might chose that instead of the soft drink.

I sometimes WANT a cold drink when I am thirsty but I know that it will not quech my thirst and I will feel more thirsty because of the sugar. So, I opt for the plain water. Though I didn't believe it when my dad first told me, the best thing to quench a thirst is hot water!!! In Kerala, we are used to drinking hot jeera water regularly and that's the best thirst quencher I have found...and it's good for health too.

Well Deepak honestly tell me, did i ever go against ur choice?? i know the answer would be NO so how can i go against u here, sure Water is best source to quench ur thirst, as ur cell dried up in heat or consume them in process and only water can serve that purpose. most of soft drink are carbonated and high with sugar so they just flush out of ur body with out being part of ur body. while water become part of Body So i would say just have glass of water first to satisfy ur thirst and then glass of soft thrink to satisfy ur taste buds Take care

I would definitely go for the cold, plain water instead of the soft drink. After all, soda can actually dehydrate you further, and that's not what I'm looking for when I'm drinking a beverage and feeling that thirsty!
