How do you spend time during long trips?

long road ahead - What do you do during long trips?

I like spending most of my time during long trips just watching the scenery. While watching the scenery, I get acquainted to the peoples way of life in a particular area. How they live from day to day? What they do for a living? Is is a progressive place? Things like that.

Oh I love watching the scenery. I seldom sleep unless I really need it because I would not want to miss the scenery. And also I read books when the trip is really too long so that while traveling I am learning.

They say reading books while inside moving vehicle is bad for our eyes. But I also read some when I really like a book and I want to get the end quick. I also seldom sleep, especially when we are travelling into a new place and the scenery that we will be seeing is new to me.

Hi friend, its too ashame for me to let you know what I do while I'm in a long trip. Ok first its obvious that we cannot do things at the same time so first I go to sleep then when I wokeup I tried to look around and after that I start talking to myself like crazy and having my day dreaming caree lol. I do that when I'm a kid and until now I admit I still do things like that.

Hi friend, So atleast I know I'm not the only one of my kind talking to myself in private. If theirs people around me I just day dream I don't talk. The person beside me may get nervous and go away lol.

I also talk to myself sometimes, but that is when there are no people around. Usually for practicing my answer for a job interview that I would be going to. But I won't do it if there are a lot of people around. I also do the daydreaming. I enjoy it a lot.

I'm usually the one doing the driving but if I'm riding I like to look at the scenery and just kind of kick back and maybe snooze a little or listen to music.

Listening to music while in a ride make it a less boring. And sometimes, when we are a group in the ride, we would sing the song out loud and even sometimes we would edit the lyrics and put our own names and stories on it. And this is really fun!

Dear friend, I would like to get the seat near to window I could watch all those things outside. Moreover I do not read much but at that I may start to read if I got a small book or comics. Most attractive thing is that watching out through the windows. When I was a kid I would always wanted to sit beside the window to watch all things out. May be just close my eyes start to sleep while I sit or just take a dream on my imaginary thoughts.

I am not much of a traveler when I was a kid so I don't remember what I do while traveling. But now, I always look at sceneries. Maybe because I am living what I haven't experienced from my childhood.

Long distance and long time travels are different things. In long distance and you will be traveling in a plane, that is the best time to watch the scenery. Then you wonder and guess, oh, we are in this place now, and there is that place, you see? But if the travel is long, let say you will be traveling in a bus, you better sleep tight. That's kinda tiring anyway...

When I traveled by plane (and I have only done it once) I haven't have the opportunity to watch the scenery because when I look at the window, it is always cloudy. Maybe it is because when we traveled it is in the rainy season. So I just watched movies and play games in the planes seat.

Well if I am with a lot of close friends we usually play pendong (a game where you ta the forehead or the head of someone after seeing a certain thing, then raising your hand waving a peace sign) inside the car. The condition is every time you see a Volkswagen beetle then you have to do pendong to your seat mate. After we get tired of playing it we just sing along the radio.

We also play that before. But I guess that game is not any more in the mode and less people are doing it now. But the singing along the radio is still in, and we are still doing it. I guess that one is timeless. We especially like the ones which are lively and the topic is something we can relate to.

I haven't done it in a long time, but my favourite activity during long trips (car, train, plane, ferry) was to embroider, especially cross-stitch, which is easier. It is incredible how fast the time goes and with surprise you find you have arrived at your destination! The only problem is by flying, as small scissors are definitely not allowed, but don't forget you have teeth! Well, it's kind of an emergency, isn't it?

Normally i will do people watching and scenary watch too.. It's both fun and exciting to see people's reaction to certain things and from there i will know how frequently does that particular person travel and to wat places.. lol ^_^ Other than that, i will be playing my sudoku games and sleeping.. lol

I also liked the sudoku game but I am not that addicted to it. I also love sleeping but most of the time I want to watch the view. Yes, watching people is great too, especially when they don't know that you are watching them. It's like watching a reality television show. Thanks for responding!

I'll start with watching the scenery and after a while I'll start daydreaming. I like to daydream. I don't do it as much as I was longer, I really had a 'second' life when I was in my teens with all the daydreams. Now I don't do that anymore, but I still daydream when I'm making a trip.

Yes, I also do that sometimes. Dreaming of the life that I have always wanted to. I have always wanted to have a farm with trees and vegetables. And when I see farms in the scenery, I would always daydream of living in it. I also want to have a beautiful house and always daydream of it when I see grand houses.

It depends on the type of transport for the long trip. In a plane, I'll look out of the window if there's anything to see - then I'll read. In a car I can't read because it makes me feel nauseous, so I'll listen to the radio or talk to my husband. In a train, I read or listen to my iPod - and watch the scenery. Sometimes I fall asleep on the way home in a train - but I can't sleep in cars.

It depends on how I'm traveling, really. For example, if I'm in the car, I'll do any number of things. If I'm the driver, I'll play music and sing along (or listen to an audio tape). If I'm a passenger, I'll listen to music, read, play video games on a handheld console (like my Nintendo DS), stare out at the scenery, daydream, or once in a while, sleep. If I'm in a train or on the Metro, I'll probably daydream or nap. And if I'm on the plane, I'll often read and/or nap. I have yet to discover what I do if I'm on a ship, haha.

That's what I've been doing too. Enjoy the views and feel the moment. And taking notes the interesting things I've seen.

Well for long trips, I just stay awake and watch the scenery. But if I am very sleepy, because I have to be awake really early, I just sleep. Whenever my family have to go somewhere, I always bring a pillow with me. So I am really comfortable.

I don't drive at the moment or have a car but I do fly a lot. I also tend to fly alone as well. What I generally do is zone out with magazines; occasionally have a nap here and there and will also watch the in-flight movie if it is an appealing one. I sometimes listen to the music as well. I especially love it when I am with an airline that offers your own personal screen on the seat in front of you. If this is the case then I will also play games; but mainly just watch shows or movies. As for scenery out the window; I always seem to end up directly over a wing! lol. So all I can usually see is metal and the sky! If I do get a better seat with a better view, I will also watch scenery as well. Funnily enough I very rarely start conversations with people sitting beside me. I am not sure exactly why? I am certainly not a shy person; I just tend to keep to myself on flights for some reason.

hi richiem! when i travel, i usually sleep. ^__^;; especially when i'm just going to the city and there's really nothing to see except for buildings and other big establishments which really don't appeal to my eyes. but when i'm traveling to go to a country, i try to stay awake so i can take a look at the sceneries even if there's only rice fields and fields and fields and mountains. its refreshing to breath the fresh air and see the cool green view of the countryside. at times that i get bored, i would play games on my cellphone or exchange sms messages with anyone but i seldom do that because it makes me dizzy and it might make me throw up. ^__^;; i would have read a lot during long travels but that makes me dizzy too. so the only choice i have is either to sleep or watch the scenery.

I suppose it depends on how I'm taking the trip. Buses don't like you eating and trains can be tricky things. I usually spend my time either sleeping or enjoying the scenery out the window.

I like to read. Sometimes I have a nap it depends on how I'm traveling and how long. If i have to drive, i listen to music. If I'm a passenger I read, ive watched movies on my laptop, talk to the other people in the vehicle On planes i tend to read or do crosswords.

i place my earphones . and spend time listening to fm channels and songs in my cell's harddisk. but if there is any sweet girl to keep company, forget all the above. i think it would have better had it been a never ending trip
