If the internet had to be shut down for a month what would you do

I think I would be completely lost. There would be no other way of contacting my 100+ friends on mylot as well as all my relatives and friends all over the globe. I just today realized that other than emails I do not contact my friends and relatives who are in other countries. So if the internet had to be shut down I would not have any other way of getting in touch with them at all. What about you? What would you do if the internet was shut for a month?

Well, if internet shut down for one month then i will be out of picture as its saying " out of sight, out of mind"Other than mylot and gmail, i will loose contact to friends other then brother relative and friends, i have phone number and send them SMS or give them call in a while. other thing will be that i use ot for official work too as whats going in the textile markets, whats trends are in, and other site as well as communicate with customer, afrter internet we rarely use fax machines but still we have 2 connections and can use them, but it will be hassle again as currenly we are paper free and to maintain rexcord is easy So its getting part of life Take care

I got bored this past fortnight when my net was playing hide and seek with me. Was not able to log on for most part of the day and have now experienced life without the internet.

I would not like it a bit. I have found that I have started to rely on the internet for some banking and other things, besides all the email that I would miss. I could call most of the email friends that I have made just to check to see how they are, but I would really miss mylot and other such sites where I really don't know anyone. BUT I would get other things done that I should be doing many times when I am online writing on mylot. I have so many things in this apartment that have been neglected that could get done. Right now the vacuum needs to be run.........and I have about 100 books to read!

If the internet was going to be shut down for a month or even a day I know me and my fiance would be lost, because right now we are having a lot of trouble finding a job and the internet is out only source of income,so without the internet we would not be able to make money to buy the stuff we need and want, and I agree that it is one of the ways I keep in touch with friends whether it be my mylot friends,or my real life friends that I talk to through myspace.

I hope for you that the internet does not go down. I too depend a lot on the internet for communication with my friends and family and would not be able to do anything without the internet.

To be completely honest, I would steal my neighbor's internet. It sounds bad, but I have more to do online than just mylot. I'm an online student and I manage all the finances online. It would be hard for me to be without internet for more than a day. Even then an entire day without internet would drive me a little crazy.

And I think mylot is a very good platform for that extra something we get every now and then.

Thats the most honest reply I have ever got. But well we have to do something for a living and a lot of us are financially dependent on the internet.

I am a writer and I hated to have to buy the books I needed, and I also sing, so I hate having to find out information on other way than on You Tube. It is going to cost me big time, having to go to buy the dvds and the cds rather than going to You Tube and listening to them. And what of the research I do for my novel? I mean I will not have extra free time, I will have less. I will have to take the bus or get my husband to drive me to the library and either if I go downtown or to the one two miles away or more, it still takes time out of my day. With the internet, I could just leave our computer room, grab a vacuum, wash the dishes, or whatever. When the internet is off for a month, I would not be able to get anything done. As for myLot, well I would miss that, not just the people and the friends, but I would have to watch my budget more tighter and say, "I cannot afford that," even to a chocolate bar.

A lot of people depend on their income from the internet so life would be difficult for many. Even for me. I wait for that extra income that I will be getting from mylot.

If the internet was shut down for a month, I would probably be very bored. I get on the internet during the day after I get my chores done, it gives me something to do. I would also lose contact with my friends. I'd go crazy..lol.

While mildly frustrating it wouldn't be a huge issue for me. I've been without my computer or internet at various times. And the first week (internet withdrawal) is the hardest. LOL After that you adjust. Some years back I was without my computer and internet for over 6 months. I know it made me focus on life more, rather than a computer.

Yes I think after the first week of withdrawal we will automatically adjust to life without the internet and it will be back to normal like in the good old days when there was no computer at all.

Actually, there are many things to do when the internet is shut down. I can write stories, draw, listen to music, read books, text my classmates, hang out with my friends, watch DVD's, study for school. Those are just some of the things I might do. But the internet is the thing that keeps me occupied for hours. Nothing can really compare to it...

If internet is off for a month? I could call or text my friends in my cellphone. Maybe we meet and hang around like we used to do when internet was still not a fad. We'll go to the beach or the mountains and enjoy real sceneries. Fresh air... awaken our senses.... sight, sounds, touch, smell! :-p We'll have talks over coffee and will have a great time talking in person.

I think a lot of us have forgotton to enjoy nature. But in crowded places we cannot think of fresh air. The city is just too polluted now. I think we would then find boys on street corners more often.

Although this is a very unlikely scenario, there is a SMALL possibility that something like this could happen. I personally would probably just increase the time I spend on studies, and for any extra time I have hang out with my friends & increase the amount of time I spend watching tv. Nothing big, really. I would miss the internet though, sadly.

I'm sure I will be bored for the whole month, I can't check my emails, chat with my friends... But before I have the internet access in this house, I have not accessed to internet for about 2 years, ealier in the 2 years I don't even have television at home. the life bored until crazy. I just watch whatever drama or movie copied back, else just sleep. After I have television, I watch the programs from television, the life at least not that terrible. But now have internet access, so great!

I did not have a television set in my house for about 4 years. After my previous set had some problems I did not buy another one because the kids were not at home and I was not too keen on watching. I do not have a computer at home for the past one year because I can log on to the internet from office everyday. But when I change my job I will have to buy a computer because I will otherwise be lost.

Well, I've got most of my friends' phone numbers in my mobile, so as far as keeping in touch is concerned I'd still be able to be in touch with most people as long as the mobile networks don't close down as well, and as long as my phone is still working! Overall I think it would be quite refreshing if the internet shut down for a month. I'd probably do more productive things with my life, and see more of my friends and family, lol! I know I could do this now and just keep the computer off, but I just don't have the willpower unfortunately! .

So you have stopped doing productive things because of the computer. I think all of us dont have the willpower to keep the internet off for a few days. I am addicted to mylot and cannot stay for a few days without the net.

Keeping contact with my friends, searching for information, designing models...all those things will be stopped if the internet is shut down.I have seen a movie, which contains a sentence,"Everything will find its way"(maybe,it isn't exact). Therefore, maybe I will find a new style of life to enjoy myself.Simple life is always the thing I am looking forward to.I can call on my friends, get what I need in the library and designing on papers. Though all the problems caused by internet being shut down can be solved,I really it will never happen.

I too would have the same problem. My family is scattered all over the globe and the internet is the cheapest way to be in touch with all of them everyday.
