Is Marijuana a Gateway drug?

Studies, Parents, Teachers and the news etc say Marijuana is a gateway drug and will lead onto other possibly stronger drugs. I think that is statement is untrue i myself have smoked pot for the last 5 years and do not wish and have never taken any other drug, i am tried of people saying that it is the worst drug around and leads onto other drugs, i think that it is up to the individual themselves whether they wish to take other substances and also peer pressure has an involvement in it. What are you opinions on this?
