I saw a movie about three years ago called 'Waking Life' and that really had me thinking. It basically explained everything that I have been feeling for so long. Maybe our lives are are just the 'wake' part of our existence. And everything that we aren't aware of is our actual existing life. The movie is a brilliant form of existentialism.

I belive you're talking about 'deja vu,' the French word for 'already seen.' It's the experience of feeling that you've already witnessed or experienced a new situation before. It's a very strange feeling, and I'd be willing to bet most of us have experienced it. Scientists attribute it to a memory anomaly. Who knows?

Some one said to me once that perhaps there are alternate planes. When you think you are dreaming, you really aren't, you are going off to another plane. The Native Americans call it wind walking.
Or, perhaps it is a premonition of things to come. Who is to say, really.
But, it is pretty common and, as someone else said, I think we have all experienced it as some point in our lives.
