Did u hear about the woman in the news who denied her son chemo?What do u think?

I've heard some pretty awful child neglect cases before. But when i read this i couldnt hold back tears. If you don't know the story, its fro Salem, Massachusetts, the woman has an 8 y.o autistic son who needed chemo to prevent his cancer coming back and she denied it. Prosecuters say the boy will most likely die. According to police the boy was diagnosed with non-Hodkins lymphoma in 2006 and under went a 5 phase regimen of chemo, including drugs that were supposed to be given to him by his mother. Police also say the mother canceled at least a dozen doctors appointments for his chemo therapy. Also she didnt bother to fill half of her childs prescriptions. The child's oncologist filed the report with police for child neglect. The cancer has returned and the boy may not live past his 9th birthday. This is awful!! What are your thoughts of this? How can people be so selfish?
