Show!

I am bringing the horse I lease to a show this month. The County Fair, that is. It's not a big and fancy ordeal, but it is all the same competitive and I am very excited. For me, showing is really a lot about fun, but it should be taken seriously. I cannot wait! I was planning on doing a whole equitation division, [one walk/trot/canter class, one walk/trot class, and one 2' - 2'3" over fences class] but my horse was having hoof issues because of the farrier [who was promptly fired after many mistakes.] I am riding him Saturday after a little break from when the other farrier fixed him up, so we will see what happens. I may just take the flat classes because of the set-back, but we have to see. Either way, I am so excited and I know we have a chance at the ribbons! :D

I take it that both you and your horse are very experienced at doing shows. I wish I could see your horse as I love horse shows. I went to the junior horse show at our county fair a couple of weeks ago. There were two young ladies riding some beautiful appaloosas that reminded me of two horses that I used to ride both in body structure and the way they moved. It made me miss those horses very much. I hope you do well at your shows!

Thanks you; I hope we do well too! Yes, I am a pretty experienced rider and while it is mainly a lot of fun for me, I take showing seriously. For me it is like a test of my skills; I practice and learn, and then I show the judges what I can do. :) I will post pictures of the horse and maybe even some from the show later.

Best of luck to you and your horse. Always remember though, winning is great, but the most important part of riding is enjoying the experience. Have fun!!!
