Would anyone else welcome a GREATER INCREASE in gas prices?

I'l just say up front that I personally would like to see the barrel price above $500 (presently I think it is around $190, so you can do the math). Not having said that I should also like governments worldwide to also take action to change taxations such that so far as possible haulage and shipping of basics, plus to some extent energy production for basic needs and such as hospitals and schools, are no longer taxed or maybe even subdidised. Mechanisms are already there for this (farmers do not pay fuel taxes here for example) so they just need extending. In the US this would also mean heavy investment in public transportation - a whole culture shift to revive the declining greyhound system etc. and reinvest in rail etc.
So am I a minority of one? Or does everyone cherish their car and demand the right to drive it? Would you prefer to have another way to get around? Do you notice or care that the North Pole is quite literally melting?
Please do not hold back - I am quite happy to be flamed and personally attacked on this discussion! I'm not here to be popular - much keener to out the actual feelings of people, even if they can be ugly.

well that is an educated and informed opinion that I can understand.... NOT.... I cannot even tell from your pidgeon English response which way you feel on the matter! But I am guessing you are against an increase (yet unable to say why).
