Hello, myLotters!
I know that here there are many who appreciate music, and excellent writers are here in myLot. So, I would like to know if is there anybody who have already tried to compose a song. Have you? Added the lyrics, added the rythm, something like that? If you have, share your thoughts about it!
I am trying to compose songs now, and I'm studying music. Therefore, I can create, but it's hard, specially when it comes to the part of adding the instruments that I can't play, like the drums.
Respectfully,
Munhozmib.

Yeah, we had 12 guitars in the group so we did a lot of pieces that could divide easily into that (trios with 4 guitars on each part, sextets with 2 guitars per part, etc.).
I had two guitars at home at the time I wrote that piece, and so I taught my brother some guitar to make sure all the pieces went together. Thankfully, that worked in the end that all 6 parts worked out too.

That's great! No voice, just instrumental music? Do you still know how to play it? I mean, do you have a Guitar Pro File or something to show me? It must have been awesome!

Hahaha, sounds great! I wish I could compose something like that. Six guitars at once? It must have been awesome! When I had classes in another place (I mean music classes), my old teacher made us do like an orchestra, with four or five guitars.

When I was just kind of goofing around one night and thinking about a lot of things, I wrote a song. I had my youth leader Steve and my friend CJ look it over and they played it on the piano and changed some words. I have the song as one of my discussions, but never got any feedback on it. I wish you luck with studying music. One of these days I want to learn to play a guitar.

Hello, girlwiththeviews!
Your song must have been awesome. I'd like to hear it one day. Piano makes everything more beautiful, so it must have been nice, this version. Thank you!
And hey, the first step to learning guitar is the desire. If you wish it, then you are in the right way.

It feels great to put your emotions in the paper, doesn't it? Why don't you try learning how to play one instrument, so it can help you composing?

even though I have an uncle who is a composer, I still don't know how to compose even just one song.

I'd like to meet your uncle someday, he could give me valuable tips about composing! For how long has he been doing it?

I have written a couple of songs, starting back in my junior year of high school (about 8 years ago). I wrote this song for my ex-boyfriend, who I desperately believed I would end up with (I know better now, lol). That song was mostly just lyrics and piano, but I did add some synthesized strings and music box for effects. I've written a couple of other songs since then, but mostly have remained on paper. I have a Casio WK-1630 keyboard that I use, and I find that the synthesized instruments are great, except for the drums. I just have no rhythm with them and the drums on the keyboard sound amazingly fake. If you have a keyboard, try putting your song together, to tempo, then add one of the pre-set drum programs and see how it does. At least then you'll get an idea how it could sound.
If all else fails, there's always composing a cappella music, like barbershop. I can tell you from experience that arranging a cappella pieces is especially fun. :)
Good luck!

Wow, 8 years ago? Did you register your music, so you'd have copyrights for it?
I have an old keyboard here, not mine, but from a friend. I can't play, I got it to try. I play Guitar, but I'm not good at it. I can compose with it, though. I mean the Acoustic Guitar, not the Eletric one.
Thanks, and take care!

I've sort of written a couple of songs for my children, but never put anything on paper.
I do know there are alot of computer programs that can help with the parts that are challenging but I'm not sure what they are.
