Twilight - Should Bella be turned into a Vampire?

I really enjoyed reading the twilight series and am eagerly anticipating the release of the fourth book, Breaking Dawn, in August. However, if there is one thing I don't like about the story, it's that Bella is just so eager to "end" her life so she can be with Edward forever. Okay. I understand that they have a great love, but I don't like the message that it sends to children and young girls who are reading the story - that a girl should just ultimately commit suicide over a guy. Sure, she gets immortality, but it's glorifying her death. I think if their love is so great, then they should be able to live it out - despite age differences, despite not being together. Sometimes the greatest love stories don't work out so pat. Personally, I think Edward nor his family should "turn" Bella. What are your thoughts.

Bella is super insecure about growing old next to edward who is forever seventeen. I think that's the reason why she eagerly wants to be a vampire. In fairness to her, I think she doesn't think of being a vampire as ending her life. Well, technically she is ending it. but symbolically she is also starting it again--this time it will be forever (unless...).

Thanks for sharing your perspective. Bella's insecurity was actually one of the traits I didn't really like about her. Though I do believe it is natural for everyone to be insecure about themselves at times in their lives, she laid too much emphasis on changing herself to be with Edward forever and made it seem like that was the only thing that would ever make her happy about herself. For that reason alone, I was hoping she would decide against becoming a vampire.

THere's nothing wrong with wanting to be happy. And if that's what makes Bella happy, then she should pursue it. I think you think it's not what will make herhappy that's why you don't agree..

Hi! How are you? Unfortunately, I really dont know much about Twilight. Ive read some about it but I kinda get the understanding that Twilight is a tv series...? Maybe its based on a book? Im not really sure but with the short description that you just gave,maybe, Ill try to learn more about the series, either the book or the tv show. Im into those kind of storylines. Thanks for starting this.^_^

Hi there! It is actually a book series, the fourth book just came out. I didn't like the last book as much as the first three. If you want to give a new book series a try and if you like vampire stories, I recommend you read this series. Enjoy!
