After homeschooling my children for eight years, putting them in the public system where they continue to excel, and sending the first one off to college in the fall; I have decided to "homeschool" myself. I am studying medical transcription. My background is medical as I was a certified nurses assistant and an emergency medical technician years ago. (Before kids) Pushing 50 yo now, I am finding this quite challenging and would really like to find anyone with similar interests (medical) who would like to do a study buddy kind of thing via the net only. I don't do myspace or facebook. Is this the same kind of networking that allows such?

I'd like to respond to the first part of your discussion. I'm a stay at home dad who homeschools my 5 and 8 year old. I commend you for giving them an education that allows them to excell far beyond school and into life. Second part, you should contact the people you use to work with or for, they would have a great resource for you to draw from. It would be a good place to start and to network from, best of on your new endeavor.

I suggest if you are taking up MT, then spend a 12-18 months with a company, then move home. one should attain the high accuracy, and once that has been achieved you are on you own.
Net is a good source to do anykind of study. One pitfall is if you are not knowledgeable about the subject, there is enough trash that looks like a diamond.
Networking here, i wont comment since i am new to this place.
