How People Choose To Go To Hell

A long time ago, I wondered why a loving God would send anyone to hell. After years of speculation, I finally got an answer... God loves us so much that He has to send some to hell... The Bible claims God is just and loving. Also, according to the Bible, the only requirment to going to heaven is believing in Jesus as the Savior of mankind... it has nothing to do with how you lived your life or what sins you've committed... If you choose not to believe the Bible, that's your FREE WILL as a human to do so... If you choose not to accept Jesus as God's Son, that is also your FREE WILL to do so... there are man religions, but so what? There are also many numbers, but only 4 is the answer to 2+2... God loves us and respects our free will so much that He allows us to choose our own fate. Simply believe and go to heaven, or don't and go to hell... You are the only one that can make your decision. God won't force us to love Him or be with Him if that's not what we wanted here on earth... if you want to be seperate from God in life, why should He force you to be with Him in the after life? It only makes sense that a loving Creator would want to respect the wishes of His creation... So in reality, God doesn't send anyone to hell, people send themselves to hell...

Hell is south Texas in mid July. LOL Sorry, just kidding fellow Texans. If the God worshiped from your Bible is so great why does he have to resort to threats of hell to get believers? Believe/hell. Some choice huh? What, he can't fill his church (and the people running it can't earn so much money) if they don't issue threats? I'm ALL for freedom of religon. I'm ALL for choosing your own path and beliefs. And I'm ALL for NOT pushing relgious views on others. Another thing we Pagans don't have - hell or the devil. Both a Christian thing. Goddess is it any wonder I'm Pagan?? Thank you for not threatening me with a scary book and threatening me with an evil creature and firey damnation!

You are so hung up on your own personal views that you see everything as white or black. Its a shame. As a Pagan I can see all viewpoints, in many different religions. So I guess in this instance we will consider your obsessive need to believe everyone will go to hell as YOUR viewpoint and I won't try to make you see ANYONE else's viewpoint. That would just be pushy now wouldn't it? LMAO

That's a lie... EVERYONE pushes their religious views on others... anytime a Christian mentions anything about the Bible... people claim its pushing a belief on them... yet, Pagans and everyone else do the same exact thing... Nobody forced you to read this thread... and nobody forces you to listen to anyone with a different religious point of view... Why does everyone assume that hell is a threat and not a warning? Is it a threat if the government says, "obey the law or go to jail?" Its the exact same thing... if you choose to break the law, then you have only yourself to blame for going to jail...

I agree with you. If you choose Jesus as your Lord and Savior, then you wont do the things you use to and God will forget your sins. Good for you to stand up and show others that God is real, heaven is real and hell is real!

Yes, but strayed away. It's not once saved always saved unless you strive toward living for Christ and asking him to forgive you. So called Christians like that give other Christians and God a bad Rep and will have to account for their sins.

well, i'm not Catholic... so that is something you have to ask a Catholic priest... they don't represent me or what i believe in... i don't think every Catholic is like that just because of the actions of a few... at the end of the day, priests are no more special than the peopel that sit in the church... they just have a title that people assume makes them holy...

have u been there? have u seen hell and heaven even in dreams? u can sometimes feel the presence of god and the angels but can u feel hell? I made u crazy couse u think that god punish us if we don't belive in Him. But what if there is a man who lost his fate, no longer belive in God, no longer want Jessus as his saviour but he commits good deeds, he help people, and so on...were is he going?

lol... lets see, God gives us FREE WILL... so if he rejects God and Jesus, why would God FORCE him to be with Him for all eternity? That doesn't sound like love, more like slavery... so based on my belief, he would go to hell, because he didn't want to be with God anyway, but it was still his choice. almost all people know that there is a 50% chance that hell exists... and if they make the wrong choice they could end up there... its the same thing as betting money at a casino... you know the odds, but some people still do it and lose big...

Hell is more then a place with fire and torture. hell is your mind and what your mind does to you. with allowing you to be stressed, angry, jealous, envy, and other feeling you allow yourself to have. heaven is when you can stop outside your mind and become one with God by not thinking. by allowing the past to be the past and not think about the future. Heaven is living right now in the moment, the present, which is Gods gift to us. right now, this moment is heaven.

I don't believe God will send good, pure and decent people to hell. There are those who keep sinning every week and believe if they confess they can go out and sin again. Should they go to heaven, rather than a good person who doesn't happen to be a Christian? When I used to go to church, there were many hypocrites and people who did evil things. Should they be allowed into heaven? It is a great enigma, and we won't find out while we're on this earth.

Ok, so you don't believe good people even exist now? There are no "good" people? If thats the case then what would be the point in having a God at all? Let your devil have them all. If there are NO good people, then won't they all end up in your hell? So if thats the case then there is no point in having a heaven is there?

no, there isn't anyone "good" enough to get into heaven... what makes one a good person? what makes one a bad person? stealing is stealing... if a man steals a penny, is he any worse than the man who steals $10,000? If a man joins the army and goes to war and kills hundreds of people, is he a good person? If I kill 1 person to save another person's life, do the two deeds cancel each other out? If I lie to keep a family member out of jail, does that make me a good person? If I think dirty thoughts about someone, but never say it out loud, am I a good person?

Sorry to say, but good people don't exist... everyone sins everyday... The idea of a "good" person is something man makes up to justify to themselves that they can get into Heaven by doing good deeds... A white lie is just as bad as any other lie... stealing a penny is the same as stealing $1,000,000... sin is sin and NO man is without sin... God knows we aren't perfect... and if you sat in church and couldn't figure out why hypocrites can still go to heaven, then you missed the whole point...

No doubt God Almighty is more loving than our mothers. He has created us so that we can recognize and worship Him alone without indulging in polytheism, which is the only unforgivable and most heinous sin as per the last divine book.He had also taken an Oath from all human souls that they will only worship Him alone. But what we have done or doing??We have made series of gods and lots of mediators at our own inspite of clear divine injunctions. We have also changed the holy books to suit our self-created beliefs and taboos. Our parliaments are passing bills to allow big sins (as homosexuality) to the people. We have certainly revolted against our Creator Almighty........So you are right in saying that,"God does'nt send anyone to hell, people send themselves to hell..."

I guess it is a good thing I don't believe in hell then, although I'm partial to warmer weather. But I do believe in free will. The free will to live my life without fear of retribution from a God who would punish me for not bowing down before him and giving everything I have have and everything I am over to him joyfully and without question to spare my eternal soul. There is no love and no respect when you rule out of fear and intimidation only more of the same.

Since I don't believe in the rules that govern the Christian God, his opinion or views don't really matter to me. I don't believe I'm wrong for me and my life. I don't govern anyone life but my own. I don't believe in hell and refuse to be scared into it. The fact that you are fearful enough to threaten me with eternal damnation just proves my way is right because I have never once had to threaten anyone because they didn't believe as I do. Threats, fear and intimidation should never have to be used to persuade anyone into believing anything.

Do you honestly think that if what you believe is wrong, that God will just say, "oh well?" You don't have to fear God to be a believer. I don't fear God. I respect His power and who He is. The problem is people want to believe that they know what's best, and most are too prideful to submit... If I was God, I'd probably create a hell just for ungrateful people who want all the joy that life has to give, but are too arrogant to even acknowledge my existence... The more people who don't believe in God talk on the subject, the more I understand why there has to be a hell... You freely choose to reject God, so He is going to let you stick with your decision for all eternity...

nope... they have to truly accept Jesus as their savior and mean it, then yeah, all is forgiven. people make mistakes and people change... and it also depends on what you consider the worst thing ever. some people consider torture worse than murder... and some vise versa... so who's to say what is worse than the other? only God can be the judge of that.

you are right that he is a loving god, and don't want us suffering. god didn't create heaven and hell. human created them. god always want us to be with him. actually we are with him already, all the time, forever. we just need to realize the fact. yes, we always be with god. actually all of us is nothing but his manifestation.

*If someone could prove heaven and hell exist, then maybe.* i absolutely agree with you, lavender *'m guessing someone around here can prove that people created heaven and hell?* there is even no proof of the existence of heaven and hell. maybe you can refer to the bible or other scriptures. that is not proof. you just assume that the bible is true, as it is the words of god. btw can you prove that the bible is the words of god? don't worry, nobody can do that. the bible is written by human.

I agree, but a small correction.God(s) do exist. Most people believe in God.Believing in God is not enough for anyone one to escape hell and go to heaven.Even people who don't believe in God can go to heaven. It all depends on the good deeds and the bad deeds you have done your life.Simply believing in God and doing all bad things and injustice won't take you to heaven. You could believe in God,but you should do good things like helping others if you want to go to heaven. God is not like a king.Only the king will keep people happy those who praise him,and sending others who did not like him.God is NOT a king.God is made up of only peace and happiness. Cheers! Have a nice day I just expressed my views. If it hurted you in any way,I am sorry. Happy mylotting and happy earnings.

You people say hell exists. As far as I have read and heard, this hell place is a horrid place full of flames and worms and pain and torture and this torture is eternal. And by preaching about hell, you say you are preaching "good news". Sorry, the existence of hell doesn't sound like good news to me. It is real bad news.

The good news part comes in that fact that you don't have to go, according to what we believe. That's the good news.

There's a little bit of a flaw in your logic. What about the denominations of Christianity that believe in predestination, the idea that your enter life is preplanned before you are even born?
@etnad0 (230)

people have a misunderstanding about predestination. knowing the future doesn't mean that it is set in stone. God may have a purpose in mind that you CHOOSE not to follow. Personally, there have been many times that I've been in many different churches and someone random will walk up and tell me that I'm supposed to be a preacher. It was strange at first because none of these people knew me, but all said the same thing, seperately, over years. Well, I'm not a preacher. I've had dreams, and a close relationship with God, but not a preacher in the traditional sense. Again, I'm assuming they meant traditional. But the point is, you can CHOOSE not to follow your predestined plan, if that was my plan.

I am fascinated and bewildered by why some so-called religious people are go "hell-bent" on proclaiming that others are destined for hell. I seem to recall a biblical passage that admonishes believers to "judge not lest they be judged." You try consider trying that particular bit of godly guidance on for size.

You assume I haven't read "the whole thing." You would be wrong. Your response to my comment is pure balderdash. Your presumptuousness is both judgmental and arrogant. You posit that all those who believe and practise a faith that is different from yours are off to hell in a handbasket. There is nothing about your attitude that promises "good news" or invites conversation with others of goodwill. By the way, in case you failed to notice, Jesus spent his entire life as a practising Jew. Christianity is the religion about Jesus, not of Jesus, and it has dismissed much of the faith he followed as irrelevant. If you are interested in the whole Bible, you might start with the Law, which Jesus preached as a necessity. I wonder if you follow that Law to the letter--honoring the Sabbath and keeping it holy, as he did? following the prescribed dietary laws, as he did? Also, when you take the entire Bible literally, as you seem to do, you find all sorts of contraditions. The genealogies of Jesus by Matthew and Luke, for example, differ radically. The Bible is full of enigmas. Your certainty of your own absolute knowledge and your narrow vision represent just the sort of pharisaism that Jesus so often railed against. Yours is just the type of rhetoric that drives people of faith away from houses of worship. Thus, in the final analysis, it is counterproductive, keeping away those you would attract. You might consider that next you launch into one of these crusades that you present is public service announcements.

you assume i'm "religious" and telling someone they are "hell bent" is not judging anymore than telling someone that the they will die if they jump from a plane with no parachute... the Bible also says, "go ye therefore and teach all nations..." its not just referring to the good parts, or the parts you want to hear, but all of it... the entire book, and it teaches that you will indeed go to hell... so you might try reading the whole thing before selecting parts that you think fit your position. just some advice for you to try on for size.

another assumption... i take the literal parts to be literal, not the entire thing... Jesus was a practicing Jew, but He also did things that practicing Jews didn't do, like heal on sunday... The Bible says, "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting lif: and he that believeth not on the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him." John 3:36 I don't recall the Bible telling people to sugar coat the message, so why should I?

Salvation does not require our reformation but our believe in Christ. It is believe and be baptized, not vice versa. You pay your own fare to go to hell, you go to heaven on a free pass. Rom. 6:23. We can not beg God to do what He has already done, to save us again. God is not adamant and an unpproachable, man is. Salvation is Gods gift to man, he can take it or leave it as you have quoted.

I think it goes without saying that people are responsible for what happens to themselves. Besides, our God is not a punishing God, but a loving God who encourages us to love one another and accept each other regardless of our sins, so why would that kind of God deliberately send someone to hell?

He doesn't send them. He lets them pick where they want to end up... If God says, go left and you'll get to hell, or you can go right and go to heaven... why is it God's fault if we CHOOSE to go left? He warned us before we made our choice. If you CHOOSE not to believe God, and you don't want anything to do with God, then how is it loving for Him to force you to be with Him if you sincerely didn't want to?

Well, God is not the executioner of the hell but He'll let it, as a parent who consents a doctor to mercy-kill his dying sick son. Believe is just a start of salvation. Its end should be a changed to our heart & mind. The lost image of God in us must be returned back to us. SO THAT WE MAY FIT TO HEAVEN. After Hell, the heaven is secured. No more threat of sin anymore, because all who were saved are are changed. HOLY just like their FATHER IN HEAVEN.

Things are not so very simple. First, you are right, God doesn't send anybody to hell, or better said, he doesn't exclude people from his presence. But his holiness and justice cannot be in touch with sinful beings. Because of his love and mercy, God himself -in the person of Jesus- came to atone for the sinners and everybody who believes in his person and work, can be freed of sin and forgiven. But it is not enough just to believe; your belief must bring forth some consequences: avoiding sin, doing good -"works worthy of repentment". Salvation is granted immediately to those who believe but from this point on, you are called to render yourself to God's work in you. Also, there are not only people who choose to not belief, but there are thousands of millions who never had the opportunity to hear God's word. What about them? The responsibility for their fate is in the hands of the believers. To care for them, to evangelize and do missionary work: this is God's means to save people.
