shopping online...is it really safe?

I do it all the time and I have never had a problem. I also watch my card statements very close and so I would notice a problem right away and can stop it. I also never use my debit card just in case. I would hate to bounce checks since I have never ever bounced one just cause someone got a hold of my card number.
