We have a collieXlabrador cross that we rescued from a pound. He was in a seriously bad way and must have been treat extremely cruelly. He did not come near us for weeks and if let outside would stay there, whatever the weather, and run away from us if we tried to get him inside. He had no trust at all and we couldnt even pick up a newspaper without him cowering bless him. He is now such a loving and caring dog its unbelieveable. He trusts us with his life and is definitely part of the family.

Our beagle was a rescue dog too. She's missing an eye, most of her teeth, and half her tail. She was found very pregnant wandering the side of the road. When they took her in for ultrasounds, they found buckshot all in her. She's terrified of storms. She was very shy at first but quickly warmed up to us at dinnertime! :) I will always choose rescue dogs and never pay lots of money for a dog that's purebred. I think it's a great thing to do!

Yes, we came back from overseas and got our dog from the Humane Society in January. She's so sweet and very nice coloring! She's part Min Pin and part rat terrier. I've included a picture of her here.
