Can I beat egg whites (soft peaks) with a whisk instead of an electric mixer?

I have a recipe that asks to beat egg whites on their own until stiff peaks form. It also calls to do the same with heavy cream, in a separate bowl. Am I able to do this with a whisk instead of an electric mixer? I have easier access to a whisk than a mixer. Oh, and if it's any help, the recipe is for tiramisu and both the egg whites and heavy cream will be folded into an egg yolk mixture. Thanks.

Yup, you can beat them by hand, but prepared for a bit of work, if you've got a lot to whip! I used to make angel food cakes and beating 30 egg whites by hand was a total B$(@#, but it can be done. When you've practiced making the tiramisu, you're welcome to come over to my house and try it with my mixer!

Yes you can used the whisk. When you used the whisk on eggs it make it more fluffier than the mixer. Don't worry remember in the olden days it was the good old whisk that was used the products came out as nice as ever.
