Absolutely. And you can always tell when a musician is working off some steam, lol. Sometimes those solos are a little more vibrant or the keys on the piano are pulsating. Playing an instrument keeps the mind focused. And on top of that it's the best feeling in the world.

I think thats true but had not think of that before concentrating on the music and what you are playing makes you forget about everything else that is going on in their life. I think thats part of the reason that it relieves most of my stress becuase it is something that i can focus my thoughts on other then what is going on in my life at the time.

yes! dont you know that music is now a therapy? it can even cure some of the diseases. music can also be classified to one of those many relaxation techniques we can us in our daily lives. through listening to music, we can relax and be comfy. it relieves stress, it calms our body, and it persuades our ears. music therapy is best when you listen to those soothing songs, and not the rock ones. just choose a nice mellow song to be your stress reliever. good luck!

I can't play any instruments, but I do know when I'm angry or upset I have a few comfort songs that I sing that calm me down. So, yeah, I believe music relieves stress.

I think that playing music helps me more becuase i can hammer on those piano keys as hard as i need to and that relieves me so much just the poudning on them. I do know that there are some songs when I am down that if i listen to them that will help me so much. Songs I dont think calm me down very much i find that when i am stressed i cry much more in songs jus ton the silliest thing.

Yes, I think the focus and concentration required to read music, play the instrument, control tempo, volume, and pay attention to other players and/or the director help to get the brain's focus away from anxieties and worries.
Also, for wind instrument players like me, the controlled breathing necessary is like the breathing exercises you might do in yoga or meditation and relaxes the nerves.
The sound and feel of good music is a bonus.

I don't play any instuments but I do find listening to my music relaxes me.I have certain CD's I play for getting busy and doing house owrk, and then I have music I listen to for relaxing.Music is very calming if it isn't heavy metal or something. Some people find classical very relaxing, for me it is certain Broadway musicals,I crank them up and block out all thoughts, just concentrating on the song, and before I know it I feel much better.

It matters how much in to music you are. I am reallyin to music and I use it to get away from the world and it relieves everything and I can just focus on music. I see your kind of like me when it comes to this aspect. Music has changed my life.

I think thats true to. If people can let themselves get right into their music that they are playing i think that they are able to become stress free by doing so. I think people who dont take it that seriously arent able to feel the less stress. Music has changed my life as well, but only the music that I play. not the music that I hear on the radio.
