grandpa being in hospital

My parents and grandfather have been estranged for quite sometime now. But his wife called my parents to let them know that he broke his hip and is in the hospital. But I have always had a relationship with him and they have not liked that. So they did not tell me he is in the hospital. And I am tired of them doing this and have no idea what to do about it anymore.

Thats pretty messed up that they wouldnt inform you. They should be happy that your a good hearted caring person who doesn't choose sides. I would let them know exactly how u feel. See people do things like this alot. A family member of mine didnt get along with her dad. Never reconsiled over stupidity. He passed away and she regrets it. If anything let his wife know to contact you with things also. That you would personally like to know how he is. I hope things work out for you. and i hope he is okay too. Hes in my prayers hun

It was her that did contact me todya wondering if i even knew because i had not called or went to visit him in the hospital. i have had enough of my parents doing this to me and am going to move out. i am 22 years old and they think they control my life. thank you for your prayers

It might be good to have a discussion with your parents regarding the reason for the estrangement and why it continues. Let them know that having a relationship with your grandfather is important to you and you would rather do so with their approval than without it.
Life is short and our loved ones don't live forever. Ask them if being estranged from your grandfather is worth it if something should happen to him and they were never able to make amends.
