I've heard a lot of people advise someone not to think negatively but positively. In fact i have given the same advice and as far as I am concerned it seems to have worked. And I have done a lot of it myself. But what do we really mean and do when we say positive thinking? Is it enough to be positive in your atitude or thoughts or does it need something else to make it work? like faith in someone up there, like self-confidence, and whatever?

I think to some degree I have always practiced this concept. I grew up with it. Hearing evangalist preach about positive thinking, claiming your miracles, etc. Recently I have tried to get into it on a much deeper level. I've read "The Secret", "The Master Key", and I'm reading almost anything I can get my hands on regarding this. I meditate and try to keep my mind on positive things. It isn't always as easy as it sounds. It involves being in more control of what thoughts you allow to enter into your head. And accepting in your heart that those positive things are true. Being grateful for the good things in your life and appreciating those things that bring you joy. The more you concentrate on these things the more of these things come your way. It does work and it is really profound.

So it needs effort to work doesn't it? you have to try to have positive thoughts , to have a positive outlook in order for the positive vibes to work. it's like thinking that you can do whatever it is you set out to and you will be able to do it because you had faith in yourself. Not waiver in your belief that you can. Is that it? faith in one's own ability to overcome all obstacles? Self-confidence? It's all a matter of just believing that you can and you will.

Exactly. That is basically a summarized version of the concept. It really works. It just takes a lot of mental effort. Until I started meditating, I never realized how many random thoughts go through my mind. Some positive, some negative. But, now I understand that I can check those negative thoughts at the door. Not that you don't get them, but you realize it and don't give it energy by concentrating on it. Instead you immediately replace it with positive thoughts. And concentrate on those.

Giving ourselves more chances. So what you are saying is that it depends on ourselves whether we get more chances because if we don't think positive or think we have a chance of doing something it is like defeating our own selves by giving up immediately. It's like thinking good karma and avoiding all those thoughts that could make us nervous, I supposew. Thanks for sharing too.
