Toshiba is a good brand, I have had one of those and even when it fell and broke it kept running, the screen has a big black spot but it is still working I think that this brand is very well made, but your question is about a good laptop to avoid to getting viruses and I don't think it really matter about what brand is your laptop, viruses will attack all kind of brands, because it is more matter about what operating system do you have installed in your laptop and which anti virus do you have installed, if you want to ovoid viruses you should to get a laptop that come with a Linux operating system, maybe Linux Ubuntu, it is a good operating system and there are better to avoid viruses because more viruses are design to attack windows computers, anyway you would get any laptop and install Ubuntu, you even would have windows and Ubuntu in the same computer.

while there are quite a few good brand of computers available in the market but I have heard that the Dell laptop is and computers are very good in performance and then comes IBM and HP. And I guess this is the reason why many companies rely heavily on these brands when the wind computers for their use. You'll never see too many companies with assembled computers because it will create more problems for them.

Buying a laptop really depends on the need of our own. If we need it for graphical design, I think you'd better buy a laptop with Core2Duo Processor, for example C2Duo7500, at least 1 GB of RAM, add-on graphic card, etc. But, if you need it for browsing or office application only, Pentium Mobile or even Celeron is enough. Now, laptops or notebooks are getting cheaper, aren't they. ASUS is best brand I think.

I think Toshiba brand is a good one, it has international warranty, and have much more service center location than others, service is one thing you should consider after buy ... To avoid a virus you should buy a good antivirus software, because it is useless if you takes a good laptop but not using good antivirus software :)
Recommended antivirus is Avast, AVG, Nod32, Avira, etc2 ;)

I currently have a Dell and am pleased with it. I have also had Gateway computers in the past and liked those too.

Well, the best computer in my opinion is a Mac. If you have the money go and buy one because they are the best computers. You would need a macbook. The only problem if you have any job that is need of special programs, you might have to watch which ones are mac compatable. If you are looking for a Pc I would reccomend dell's. Very good PC
