8.1M Earthquake to Hit the Philippines on July 18?

Philippines
July 6, 2008 10:04am CST
This has been spreading over the internet and sms for quite some time now. I did a little googling and I found out that this "prophesy" came from the same person who supposedly predicted many other disasters and tragedies in the past. He's Juseleeno DaRoose, a 47yr old Brazilian teacher. Among his past predictions are Princess Diana's death and the 9/11 terrorist attack. There's lots of info about him over the net so you too might want to check him out. I'm not even sure if he really exists or not. Lolz. So, dear myLotters, fellow Pinoys or not, what are your thoughts on this? I would love to hear from everyone. xoxo, ajhie!

Oh, thanks for that information, misty99! ^__^ Well, whether that guy even exists or not, I sincerely wish none of these calamities or tragedies would ever happen. Then again, that would be too much to ask. Tough life. xoxo, ajhie!

Just have it searched my friend and it seems there's some sort of misinformations. What i read is DaRoose predicted the a 9.1magnitude earthquake in Japan that will cause a 30m high tsunami.Never said anything about Philippines having earthquake.Anyways....just the same let's all pray this and even the other predictions he has won't happen.Thanks.

I think if this will really happen here in the Philippines, the more our economy will be in danger.. Many Filipino people will going to suffer.. I hope this is not true...

Our economy is bad enough as it already is. We can no longer afford any more setbacks. More importantly, lives are at stake, and while the economy can be rebuilt, these cannot. xoxo, ajhie!

Its immpossible to predict an earthquake even if you have the most sophisticated early warning systems. This person as with many predictors including nostradamous, probably predicts hundreds of events a year but focuses only on the correct ones and not the much larger amount of incorrect ones. The difference now is that the internet can be used to spread these things rapidly and people swallow it quickly.

This email has started to circulate already and I also have a copy of that email too. Well I think we should not panic about it since it has not yet happened. And I really think that earthquakes cannot be exactly predicted by anyone yet. There were rumors before that when China was struck by a strong earthquake it was our turn to have one bgi quake but none had happened. Earthquakes are quite unpredictable as of these days. It is just but right to be prepared from these events from happening with or without any prediction.

Yep! Preparations are totally better than worrying or waiting for something to actually happen. We don't really know what's gonna happen, anyways. Thanks for that, rsa101! xoxo, ajhie!

I hope this is not true because I got my family and friends back home and I worry about them a lot. Let us just pray and have faith that God will spare us from any kind of disaster.

True. The Lord works in mysterious ways, as they always say. Earthquake or no earthquake, as long as we have faith in Him, I'm confident that no harm will come to us. Hang on to that faith, dear. xoxo, ajhie!

There's actually no reason to be not scared everyday for nobody truly knows when yoour time is up.Let's just be prepared everyday. Why should we even wait for a disaster when who knows what's gonna happen in the next hour or maybe just the next minute.I don't feel for these predictions but truly I'm scared because I know I'm not totally prepared.

I'm glad you feel that way, choybel. And it's true that at the end of the day, all that matters is if we're prepared for whatever might happen. I also don't feel for prophesies like this and, like you, I can't help but worry at the back of my head. God bless us. xoxo, ajhie!

Number 1: I'm currently residing in Baguio, so all earthquakes that happen here are scary already. Number 2: I think it's an act to call attention, using the Killer Quake anniversary as an attention seeking method. Number 3: What ever happens I know that My God will not abandon me.

Baguio's such a lovely place. Though I don't think you should worry so much anymore. After reading all of these people's responses, I guess it's safe to say that there's really nothing to worry about. xoxo, ajhie!

That is just plainly stupid. We've been hearing a lot of stories like these for eternity and none of them really came true. it's just a ploy to scare people out of their wits. I think people should ignore these kinds of things. These things do not have any scientific proof to it.

Fear has always been an effective tool to make people believe in nonsense, and you're right, this could be another one of those things. Nevertheless, I guess what this truly does is that it serves as a reminder that each new day is unknown to anyone, and therefore it's better to always make the most out of the present. xoxo, ajhie!

i think there was a text message circulating months ago predicting the same thing.. with date and all but the earthquake never happened.. it is quite impossible really to believe in such things.. nobody could be certain what happens in a few hours much more in a couple of days... remember when they predicted that the world will end?? it never happened.. ehehe...

Although it is possible for that to happen, as it happened before, considering the place we are located. But, it is not right to tell something ill that could happen to us Filipinos in times like this (Economic Crisis, Political Crisis, My thesis..hehe). So who ever came up with that is just wanting some attention.

I really wish you're right, heero. It's as if we don't have so much in our (Filipino's) hands already, along comes this one! Lolz. I guess all we can really do right now is just to pray and hope that no matter what, we'll all be fine. xoxo, ajhie!

This is frightening, I hope this is not true. I am afraid of what will cause in the Philippines. We have tragic sulpicio lines issue, now if this earthquake will happen. Oh, what will happen. We're on crisis, there's a lot of innocent people out there that will be affected of this. This is not a joke, and though people of the Philippines should be ready for this.

True enough. Still can't help it though. I'm easily bothered by even the smallest things. What more if it involved some kind of doomsday effect to it. Lolz. Thanks for the comment, my friend. ^___^ xoxo, ajhie!

Predictions are predictions. I am not so sure on a scientific way of predicting earthquakes but provided that we are within the Pacific Ring of Fire, we experience tremors and quakes everyday. So, a stronger quake is possible. Hopefully it will not happen. What we can do is to always be prepared. Pray.

Ah, the age-old saying.. "Pray hard, it works." Lol. But it's true! Hehe. With all the troubles we're going through, sometimes all you can really do is to pray. Then again, there's that other saying that prayers can only get you so far. You'll have to make your own decisions too. What does this have to do with the earthquake..? I have nooo idea. Hahaha. xoxo, ajhie!
