Where was the last place you flew to?

Where did you last take a plane to fly somewhere? Where was it? What airline? Did you like the experience or not? With all the regulations and surcharges planes are putting out there I was really suprised when a couple months ago I took my wife on a vacation to Cancun, Mexico on JetBlue and had a very enjoyable experience (DVDs in the seats, XMRadio, lunch on a 2 hour flight...). I have vowed not to fly as much as I have in the past and I haven't. I am not paying a bag surcharge fee and am not going to travel unless it is reasonable or I am in dire need. What about you? Thanks Zelo

It was several years ago, but it was actually the only time I have flown on a commercial airlines - and that was a trip to New Orleans for a business conference.

It is like the difference between being in a fishing boat and a cruise liner... Thanks for the response. Zelo

It was a smooth flight and I was surprised that there was no more motion than there was. I have flown in smaller private planes, but never the large jets.

I flew from South Carolina to Michigan last may and flew American West. It was OK except I had a seat right in front of the toilet so I couldn't relax the seat. Had some stop overs because I flew cheap seats so covered some ground twice coming back. There wasn't any DVDs or any thing lie that. As the price of fuel goes up so do the expenses of flying the planes so they have to find some way to cover the expenses.

This plane is hat we call a puddle jumper. A bit small. I have flown on some larger ones that were more comfortable. Life is full of changes.

I am going to have to fly on a 'puddle jumper' in a few weeks... 150 mile trip on a turbo-prop plane. Thank God it will be just for an hour 'cause I really feel a lot safer in the larger planes. Thanks Zelo

One thing I have found is with US flights there is not much in the way of comfort/relaxation/entertainment when compared to overseas flights. Change change change... and I'm not talking about the presidential race either. They will learn sooner or later Thanks Zelo

The last place I flew to was a momentous occasion because it was the first time I had flown on my own! I am not a keen flier so to get on plane in the first place was a big feat for me but getting on it ALONE was like OMG I am doing some adventurous for me! It was scary but I faced my fear and conquered it. As they say the only thing to fear is fear itself. I flew to Rhodes and it was part of my escape plan from the ex, so it was a double whammy, fond memories and I am sooooo glad I did it, 2 weeks away on my own, it was fun. I enjoyed taking off, but it was the landing that I wasn't keen on and the ears popping, I even sucked sweets and it still didn't take that horrible feeling of your ears popping, ouch! I don't plan to travel for a while because of the cost, I would love to go to New Zealand but the thought of the flying time puts me off, even with stopovers.

Welcome Wolf! So the wolf took to the air... I am happy that this early in the morning you gave me a chuckle. I shouldn't laugh... for those who are not accustomed to flying it can be a scary experience. Still when my wife and I fly (and we travel quite a bit) she digs her nails into my arm when we take off and closes her eyes when we land. How DO they get something so big so high for so long without crashing... wonders of modern science and physics I guess. Great to hear from 'ya Zelo

I flew to Europe in April 2008. I am going to go again in September or sooner. I like SAS carrier. They are very nice. Yes, personal DVD and great dinner served. The only problem is with very high price for flight to Europe.....

SAS they are Scandinavian right? Did you fly into England or did you go all the way to the Netherlands/Norway/Finland? I have never flown with them before but I am glad to hear you had a good trip... it seems all flights to Europe are high and those to Africa are just outrageous right now! Thanks Zelo

The last place I flew to was San Francisco. It was actually the return flight home. LOL I had flown with my family to Los Angeles to go to Disneyland when I was 7 or 8 years old. I don't remember what airline it was, after all it was about 25 years ago, but I do remember enjoying the flight, other than my ear popping so bad on the flight home that it ruined my experience and I haven't been on a plane since. Okay, so I had the chance to fly in a plane again many years ago, and I was excited to go, but the opportunity fell through, and I just haven't had any reason to fly in a plane since.

Jetblue was good for you was it? I've been really iffy about booking a flight with them simply becuase I'm really not all that familiar with the airline ya know... My last flight was a yr ago..I flew out to L.A to visit my gf for a week...I think it was American Airlines..

I really wasn't familiar with them either and didn't hear all that much good about them. People love to b**ch about whatever and never say what is good. Anyways enjoyable experience would recommend again. AA is a great airline (the largest in the world I believe) but I think they are getting a little greedy (or needy) and I can't personally choose them as an airline I would fly on right now. Nice thing is usually it is all quiet... the airport is not crowded and you probably hit Rhode Island around 6:00/6:30am which gave you the whole day. I rather prefer red eyes they are just so hard to find sometimes. Thanks for the response. Zelo

I flew twice in my life, both times to the island of Tobago and thoroughly enjoyed both flights. These were years ago when you travelled there in twin-engined six seater craft and sat down and watch the wings flop up and down outside the window. The plane bumped up and down, the hostess, a slim East Indian, got some of the captain's coffee for me when I asked and when you touched down you jumped off the plane. Maybe one day I'll go to Cancun but there's nothing like island hopping in the Caribbean. Loads of fun.

Can I make the assumption that you went from Trinidad to Tobago... I didn't know their airport could handle larger planes than 'hopper' planes from Trinidad. Thanks Zelo

Oh man. The last place I flew to was Jamaica (on Air Jamaica lol.) I was originally born there so I visit every now and then. I am actually supposed to go back there with my family at the end of this month, but I am not sure if that is happening because air line tickets are so expensive nowadays. I actually haven't been in a long time. It's been a few years. I have mixed feelings of going since I'm excited to visit, but I hate flying on an airplane. If I could drive everywhere I would! I feel much safer. Ironically, I heard that driving is the worst possible transportation in terms of safety, which is probably true since I recently (2 days ago) got into a car accident when a car ran into the back of mine.

Yeap that is true... driving is the most dangerous. When I visit Jamaica I go by cruise ship... even if I am going to stay there. It is less expensive and I am right here in Florida so it is not that far away. Thanks Zelo

I'm afraid I do not travel by plane only by car and bus. I have heard though that it is getting to outrageous to fly anymore even with the free miles people rack up with their cards.

There are stories where the airlines are penalizing people who have the miles cards now... charging them a booking fee or whatever which I think is total BS. I think a lot of people will swallow their pride or whatever it is and start taking the bus in light of high gas prices and the airline fiascos.... Thanks Zelo

The last time I took a plane ride was to Texas to visit my family. I took US Airways and it was a pleasant ride for the most part. Of course they are one of the airlines charging for baggage so I may not take them again. They did provide snacks and drinks at the time but that has probably changed. It is sad that they are putting in all these extra charges and may hurt them in the long run. Glad to hear that you had a good experience on your trip.

They did me a HUGE favor when I had a late arrival at JFK from Casablanca and there were no more flights except theirs that I could connect to. They found us a seat and didn't even charge us for the ride from New York to Florida (and we ended up at an airport closer to home than originally planned!). I am sure this baggage thing will go away if, like yourself, people don't use the airlines that charge for baggage... they will need their customer base back and find that it was a bad idea. Thanks Zelo

I flew back in November 2007 from Baltimore to Orange County, California. This was the first time in about 15 years I had flown. We were lucky and were flying first class, thanks to winning a grand prize in a sweepstakes. We had a great experience, wonderful food, great seats. Couldn't have asked for anything better. The only thing that was a little problem was the meals for one leg of our trip. We were traveling with a 6 and 10 year old. There was no way they were eating Salmon. LOL, I guess there was some miscommunication with the company who booked the trip and the airline. They survived. We want to take a cruise in the next couple of years and have decided to wait until the Port of Baltimore opens up for more cruise lines in September 2009. We priced flying to Miami for the four of us and it is 2,100 dollars. I don't mind paying money for a cruise but not that much for airline tickets.

Chicago is weird. I dunno ALWAYS late. Atlanta is the same way but they are also the largest airport so I can give them a little slack. BWI is layed out funky. It seems you have to walk for miles to get to where you need to be. I really like Denver's new airport and of course my home airport of Orlando. Talking of cruises out of Baltimore... I have been all over the place (because of being in Florida) in cruises but never to Bermuda (too far north). I might have to take the 1,000 mile trip up to my hometown of Baltimore to take a cruise there since I have never been there before. Thanks for the answer. Zelo

forgot to mention that we flew United. We went through Dever flying West and Chicago flying East. We only had one delay and naturally that was in Chicago. A 90 minute delay turned into a 2 1/2 delay. Good thing we all had the next day off.

Just remember there are a LOT of people that do this everyday and it is one of the safest (if not THE safest) forms of travel. Right now the price of travel is actually pretty descent. It is when you get towards the holidays and especially into the first of the year that prices start skyrocketing...
