In my eyes,it seems that America wants to keep China within limits, after all,to the country, there is not forever friends but forever benefit.

There's no question it's strictly a business relationship. China's policies, especially in denying human rights and freedom, is far worse than Cuba's, but Cuba remains the enemy while we court China's business. This hypocrisy makes me and many others ashamed of our country. It's just another reason we hate the present president so much.
Sorry if this offends you. The people of China are just the same as people anywhere. The government, however, is repressive.

According to the news reports we get, there is little personal freedom in China. People are told where to live, where to work, how many children to have, and on and on. Are we being misinformed?

I agree that the business element in the relationship between China and America is a huge part of the relationship of these two countries.
By and large, I think that there is a lot that we do not know about each other. As an American, I am largely ignorant of Chinese culture and history. I know about the Great Wall, but I could not tell you who built it or why. I know that the summer Olympics are being held in Beijing, and that the Chinese government can shoot missiles into clouds to make it rain... but beyond that, I really don't know a lot about China.
Governments are important, but I think that their powers are diminishing because of their inabilities to handle financial crises... and that we will see a power shift to businesses that can handle finances and make things happen.
I am interested in learning more about the Chinese, because I think that there are business opportunities to find when you are talking about a population of 1 billion people... and you will probably see more and more Americans and Chinese that continue to be interested in each other for business purposes.

LOL, I'm sure that it is easy, I've just never heard about any country doing it before. We take on construction projects to change the course of rivers, but I'd never heard about anyone changing the course of where it would rain! That's something new to me.
