This could explain why I never feel hungry!

For awhile now, I haven't felt hungry! And I mean ever! I just don't ever feel hungry. On impulse this evening, I checked the back of the honey bottle as I was giving my cup of tea a nice glop and found the problem! Turns out that one tablespoon of generic honey has sixty calories! And considering that I drink up to five small cups of tea daily, and use a tablespoon of honey for each cup, that's three hundred calories. But it's not three hundred in addition to three square meals. It's three hundred calories instead of any food! I'm lucky if I feel like eating one sandwich the entire day. Or a cup of soup. Could explain why I never feel hungry! I'm getting those sneaky calories. What are some of the sneaky high calorie foods in your diet? Do you munch foods while watching TV and don't realize how many extra calories you're adding?

I've becoming more aware of what I eat as I'm trying to loose a little weight and I'm working out often. There are foods that you think are very healthy (and they are) but have a huge lot of sugars, calories or fat in them. There are very healthy types of fruitdrinks that seam great and have 0% fat but what they don't tell you is that they are extremely sugarly which makes them still a bad thing to drink when on a diet! I've also found out that croissants seem to be pretty healthy but are one of the worst things out there because of all the fat in them you don't know straight away and hardly taste either. It's not a bad thing having these calorie-bomb-foods every now and then as long as you are aware of it and make sure you also eat other stuff and keep it between boundaries. One must be able to sin from time to time

Oh, you're so right about that! Just yesterday I thought about buying fruit juice for my daughter, so that she would be getting more fruit in her daily routine. But then remembered, that I had cut out fruit juice about two years ago, cause the fruit juice makes her not hungry and she turns her regular food away. Isn't that ironic? She's just like me. Orange juice is so super healthy. But if I drink any juice, then I don't want real food. She is the exact same way!

That would kind of explain the same for me and drinking coffee during the day. I don't add sugar just cream and it's in the power form. I was a little scared to look and see the calory amount from the cream, in the coffee. I know that it could be high. But sometimes I don't really eat during the day but once. Depending on how I feel, then there are times that I might eat more than once in a day but 3 square meals a day. I don't do anymore. Then the snacking could be another problem to that keep the 3 square meals from being done.

See! I knew there were others like me on this issue. It's not like I'm eating three squares on top of the honey calories. The sweetness from the honey is replacing actual meals. I guess that could help with weight loss, cause I never feel hungry. But, I do realize that I should be eating more for my energy sake. I have to start getting more calcium. Thanks for your response. Nice talking to you today! Beauty Queen

I think I should go back to having honey. I need those sneaky calories. I don't want to be hungry and be looking for something to eat. I should take a look at those sneak honey calories again. They sound cool.

Officially I'm cooking low fat, low sodium and usually eat good. But this past couple weeks have not been feeling hungry. And when I do eat, I can't eat much. I think the honey is curbing my appetite. I don't feel super energetic, though. So, it's not like I'm getting more done. Don't want to just lounge around all day. I have to get back into regular meals, if only smaller bite size healthy meals.

You should still be feeling hungry as the average person is meant to eat 2000 calories a day, so you should be getting another 1700 on top of your honey intake. I have no guilty secrets as I am currently calorie counting. I suppose I do have one, which is orange juice. I do not count the calories in drinks, so if I am peckish and have no calories left for the day then I will get a glass of orange juice.

Wow, I think that I am going to go get me a five gallon bucket of honey. I usually snack out of the vending machine while at work and so then probably add more calories than what I know or should consume.

Certainly! Honey is a much healthier treat than candies or snacks. I should consider myself lucky. I had no idea it could supress appetite too!

With me that would be from drinking coffee and snacking. Like earlier I had a debbie cake brownie. I have been making myself drink water as much as I can which is better for me but I still want my caffine and junk food. I need to eat more fruits for snacks and I know I do.

I have the easiest trick to avoid chocolate cravings. Eat two bananas and drink water. Works for me, everytime. The fruit doesn't contain so much sugar that you would crash. And it's about two hundred calories. The fiber helps fill up the tummy and the water keeps you hydrated. Also, rice expands in the tummy when you drink lots of water, so you will never feel hungry if you have rice with each meal. Best of luck. Thanks for your post.

At least it is good sugar sweety! I guess that could cause our lack of appetite! I am very similar and I am very rarely hungry but i put that down to drinking soft drinks and not being able to get enough exercise! xxx

I know what you mean. I have a similar reaction when I drink orange juice. If I get up in the morning and drink juice, I don't feel like eating all day. I think it's my blood sugar. My daughter is the same way, so we don't keep juice in the house or she would never want to eat. Can't risk that. Thanks for your response. Always a rare treat to be able to talk with you. I wish I could not eat like that. I am hungry all the time. I lost over 100lbs and stopped dieting and gained some of it back. I started the diet again today and low and behold I went off of it at dinner time. I will have to do better tomorrow. I hope you are getting your nutrition you need.

I hear you! I have that issue with diets. A good diet should include lots of foods you want to eat. Less focus on foods you can't eat. They have done studies where men on a diet were told they could have any food from a huge list of foods. And they were not told what not to eat. The other group of men in the study were only told what they could not eat. The men who had the list of OK food but no restrictions, lost more weight and were less focused on the foods and felt more satisfied after the study was over. I have been trying to go into that direction. I don't focus on the negative foods or what I'm missing out on. Just the foods I can have I can eat unlimited fruits and vegetables and chicken and fish. I do think that I have lost some weight as a result of healthy eating. Best of luck with the weight loss. Be well. Beauty Queen

Hello, Beautyqueen26! Wow, you do not feel hungry? How strange is that! I am usually feeling hungry on the right times. I don't eat too much, nor eating less than I should. I eat enough to make me feel good, and I'm not fat nor thin. You should be careful, you can get a serious disease for not eating! You should at least try to eat something, put something inside your stomach. Can't you do it? Respectfully, Munhozmib.

You have very wise words and thank you for sharing your wisdom with me and the other Mylot members. I will most certainly try to eat more often, but sensible meals and not snacks. Perhaps that will prove to be a good solution. Perhaps several smaller meals and not one large meal. Thanks for your advice. Beauty Queen

Nothing better than pure sugar, aka honey, to mess up your hunger Since I am a stick figure of a person and never have to worry about calories, there are probably lots of them sneaking into my body. Mostly they come from potato chips that I eat by the large bagful

My kid does the same thing. She is also a stick figure and has always had trouble keeping weight on, so I don't fuss too much. If she is lucky, she won't be cursed with my fat genes. For me, weight is a constant issue! Thanks to the dang pregnancy. Well that was a big old blessing and curse in one neat package. Got a kid out of the deal and it wrecked my metabolism.

I feel for your kid. I always lose weight in the summer and then gain it back in the winter but it is never enough of a gain. I only weigh a hundred and eight on a good day. I gave up trying to gain weight as it just didn't work. Odd thing, I am the only skinny one in my family

I hear you! She is one of the only skinny people that I have ever known either. She doesn't get her skinny jeans from me. And she has curly blond hair! I don't and neither does my spouse. But he did have blond hair when he was a kid so that could explain the blond thing. Otherwise mama would have some real explaining to do. Imagine my surprise on the day she was born when they brought me a platinum haired princess! I was floored. I hope her good luck streak keeps going.

I'm not on Weight Watchers so every calorie has to be counted since I'm on the point system. Before that though I was just consuming calories without ever giving them a second thought. I'd take second helpings of things and eat the sweets that people would bring in to work. This morning on the Today Show, a woman came on who had lost over two hundred pounds. She lost the first forty pounds just by giving up the soda she was consuming daily. Each month she picked one more food to give up and she is now half the size she used to be.

I'm thinking about giving up milk and going back to Tums or that supplement that has calcium built in. Right now I have bad milk cravings. When I was pregnant, I had such bad heartburn and nothing took it away, except for Tums or was it Rolaiids. I think it was the one with the calcium. My milk cravings went away when I took that and I didn't have an extra 500 calories daily of milk consumption to deal with. I have a long list of stuff that I would give up. If I could ever eat anything, I'd give it up.

I like honey a lot, I didn't know how much calories it has but I thought it would much more, anyway I don't mind about how much calories it has, because I am not overweight, I even need to earn some pounds, I think there is a lot of sneaky high calorie foods that I am eating while I am in front the computer, I alway keep going to the kitchen to pick up something, sometimes it is a banana or a sandwich or anything that I can find to eat, so I don't know really how much calorie I am add to my diet, I remember that when I was going to gym they give me a diet that was change my juice or water for milk, so I had to drink milk in each food and use it for hydrate me, it was working really well, I think that milk has a lot of calories, because I really didn't eat anything extra and just change my juices for milk and it worked really well, I don't watch television much nowadays, I just watch a little bit while I am eating my lunch and supper, so usually I am just eating my lunch while I am watching television, I wish I would never feel hungry but I keep getting hungry between food and I have to go to the kitchen to pick up something, maybe I would to try eating more honey, I like it a lot but I am not eating much honey nowadays so next time that I goes for groceries I will pick up a bottle of honey.

Does my butt look big in this chair? I spend lots of time sitting here in front of the computer, but I deserve it after being on my feet for eight hours at work. I don't have sneaky calories. I can see every one of them before they enter my mouth. I just have to cut out lots of ice cream and soda pop. I bought one of those little single servings of Haagen Dazs ice creams this morning. That's better than eating a whole pint in one sitting!!

I do the single serving sometimes too. They really do save on calories.

I used to be very cautious about the amount of calories in almost every food I used to eat, but then I gave up on that, because when I did that, I found myself being MORE hungry than when I just ate whatever I felt like eating. When you watch your calorie intake, I've noticed, some foods have high amounts of calories in small amounts (as you mentioned with the honey) so, it would take less food to reach the calorie intake for the day you are setting for yourself.

OK! That does make sense. I used to be all knowledgeable about calories and amounts that I should or should not be eating. Lately, I've been winging it. Might have to join Weight Watchers or something to get the weight to come off of me for good. They have a fantastic support system.
