I make sure I take all mine. There is no benefit to not taking them. In my company if you don't use em, you lose 'em. I read that over half of US employees don't use all their vacation days, and that's even when they only get two weeks. I can't imagine working a whole year with under two weeks vacation. Do you do that...why??!!

I make sure I use mine. My company is like yours. The only days that can accumulate are Personal Days. Vacation and Holidays have to be used within the year. And I do make sure I do not lose them because other than that I do not have many benefits...now if they paid us for them in case we did not use them...maybe I would not be so concerned....but I make sure I am on top of them.

That's nice you have that. We have to take ours by February of the following year, or they're gone.

If I have them, I take them, one place I worked bought back the leave days at the rate of one third regular pay.

I guess the people who don't take them are too busy working...LOL

Most people in Europe have over one month of vacation days.
Some people have 6 to 8 weeks.
I can not imagine not to have at least 2 weeks off during the year.
I take many days off from my own business.

My husband always used all his vacation days he needs time away once in awhile and we usually use those days to take the kids on vacation. This year though we stayed home as the economy is to bad to take a vacation this year at $4 a gallon for gas.

I find even if I don't actually go anywhere, it's a break from the day to day grind at work.

I, like you take all of my vacation days because we will lose our too. I was just given 3 weeks vacation and they are all planned out, mostly for the later part of the year (Thanksgiving, Christmas, and being that I work for the school system, I used part of it for Winter and Spring break). Now my sick days I would like to add up because we do get paid for those.

I always made sure I took every single day I was entitled to! You work hard enough all the year around, you need the time off to relax, recharge and to be healthy! You are entitled to them, and is it any wonder that people suffer with stress or can't enjoy their retirement because they've worked, worked, worked? There needs to be a balance. Companies are quick to put pressure, get their pound of flesh from you, so you should make sure you get the time off, it works both ways and besides they won't thank you or think any more of you if you don't take all your holiday time! So why let them benefit?

I try to take all my vacation days. In the previous work I was in, I even owed some 2 or 3 something leave credits. Lol. That was how much I loved taking them. But in this new job I'm in, I am trying to save up all my leave credits because I'm planning to use them by November or December even.
