How do you get a lazy cat to lose weight?

My cat rarely plays on her own.She always meows by her food dish, and my family won't stick to a feeding plan or anything. My dad always says, "feed the cat" when she meows. He doesn't even check to see if thats what she needs, but she always eats the food in her dish.

I have 2 chubby girl cats here. What we do is mash French cut green beans into their canned food. We start with a teaspoon and increase slowly until it's about half and half. The girls don't mind at all. It's a slow process, but the weight does come off.
You will need to feed only at meal time, and it works only with canned food. Our cats eat twice a day.
Good luck with your chubby kitty.

I like that idea mcat! My Waffles cat is as fat as all heck. The only exercise she gets is jumping off her jungle gym and walking to the kitchen for food, as well as jumping on my bed early in the morning to remind me to feed her and the other cats. She also snacks on the other cats' food behind my back, that wicked girl. I'm definitely going to try doing that, and thanks so much for suggesting it!
