Who will care for your children, if something was to happen to you?

Okay i realize this isnt a pleasant topic, but its a realistic topic that parents need to discuss at some point. Do you know who will care for your children (those that are not old enough to be on their own) if something should happen to you and your spouse? My husband and I have discussed this and unfortuantely we have different answers. He says without a doubt his sister would be the one to care for our son, his reason is because he feels her two daughters are geniuses and taht she is best able to help him to be the smartest he can be (that is a quote from him) I honsetly dont know who i would want to care for him. I agree that his sister is a great mom, and i dont feel she would do a bad job raising him, however, if she was to have him (she lives in minnesota) he would lose all contact with my family. The two families are not close at all geographically or otherwise. I am certain she wouldnt bring him to chicago to see my sister and her kids, or my mom. Most likely my sister wouldnt go to minnesota for the fact she couldnt afford to do so, but would at least make an attempt if possible. I dont feel as though my family would be better for him to raise him, sadly, but i do want them to be in each others lives. So its a tough spot. Hopefully the situation never happens, but i have told hubby we need to ahve something in writing because even though i wont be here to witness the drama, my son doesnt deserve to have people fighting over who gets him, if we are gone and dont have our wishes stated. I thought to ask him which he would want, but hes only 5 and well one day it would be one person another day it would be someone else..so i cant go by that. He is more bonded with my family because we see them all the time, only see my inlaws twice a year. So i would think he would be happier with my family, but as i said..sadly, i dont know if anyone Sis, Mom or otherwise in my family would be the best for him. So have you thought of what you would do? Or any advice on how to decide?
