I really love this song! I know some people won't like it because it's about a woman shooting a guy who beat her up. I remember the uproar from some fronts when the Dixie Chicks came out with the song Earl, which was about the same thing. But, I think they are both cool songs. The song is by Miranda Lambert if you want to look it up and check out the lyrics. The beat of the song is pretty good also. Listen to it if you can.

I have not heard this song, "Gunpowder and Lead" but I must assume it's country, or at least, the name sounds like it could very possibly be country. I liked the song, "Earl", although I understand the politically incorrect nature of it. Anyhoo, it was a fun song and an even greater video. I loved it. I will try to listen for this song by Miranda Lambert. Thanks for sharing.

Yes it is a country song. I mostly listen to country music, although I do like some rock stuff. My hubby likes rock so I hear what he plays. You can look the lyrics up to see what you think.

I think it's got some pretty powerful lyrics. Plus, when I hear the title, "Gunpowder and Lead," it tells me it's probably about a serious topic. The title itself is a real attention-getter. I read the lyrics and watched the video on YouTube. I like the song. I have not heard of Miranda Lambert, but that's not surprising because I usually don't listen to country music. My husband watches the videos on TV occasionally, so I'll hear some country songs from that. Having powerful lyrics like that can really cause people to get riled up. But it's an important statement about domestic violence, that's for sure.

Everytime this song comes I turn it up super loaud and belt it out! it's one of those feel good songs! LOL. I'm not currently in an abusive relationship but when I was only 18 I was with someone who mentally and physically abused me and I think of him when I sing and it feels good!!! haha Granted i would never ever really want to kill someone....feels good all the same!

I know what you mean. I've never been in an abusive relationship but my Mom was and I'd have loved to do something really bad to the guy. The CD this song is on is pretty good.

Yep. If there's any way possible out of the situation, I hope all women get out. I know it's not as easy as we think sometimes though.

I agree as well... this song is always playing super loud when I hear it! While I would never shoot someone either, I think it's a great message for women in abusive relationships to stand up for themselves and get out of harms way as soon as they can. Great song!

I agree. I don't know that they have to go so far as to kill the guy, but they should definitely get out of the relationship.
