I love riding a train, so I would choose that option without even having to think much about it unless it was an emergency and I needed to get somewhere fast.
I"m not even thinking about the monetary part, and it is, as you say, cheaper. I just like train rides, they are very relaxing to me.

How do you justify saying a train is more safe. In England, we went through a number of years where several trains crashed or were derailed, where bombers blew up underground trains, and fires were started at stations, trapping and killing people. No way do I think one's any safer than the other.
I travel whichever way is the most convenient for a particular journey. In fact it's not easy to reach the train station from here, so I tend to use buses and coaches more. I enjoy the scenery and the comfort of a coach, when I travel around my country. However, if I'm going abroad, of course, I will fly. I was a bit scared when I took my first long-haul flight to Vancouver a couple of years ago, but I got through it, and the flight back was much easier. I love to see the clouds and the land below, when flying. There's some beautiful views from planes.
Brightest Blessings and thank you for this discussion.

I never travel by train and would like to try it. I have travel using air plane too much, but still i feel it is boring, i can't do anything on the plane and there is nothing else to see outside, except the sea and the jungle. But personally i think that it depend to the carrier provider whether they can gives a better service to the costumer or failed. Remember in transportation industry, service is important to consider.

When I travel by plane it is usually for business purposes, don't worry too much about accidents, because mile for mile it is the safest way to travel. I dislike the amount of time spent waiting around the airport before boarding the plane, would suit better if I could just go straight on to the plane when I arrive at the airport. Travel by train is not quite so safe as air travel, and can be slower, but usually don't have to wait nearly so long for boarding the train, (unless it is very late in departing).

If it came down to it, I would take a plane, however, most of the time I drive especially if I'm going to see my mom which is about a 8 1/2 hour drive...I don't mind driving, just the drive home is the worst..lol...But, if anything, It would be a plane, much faster..

i haven't tried a plane journey so i'd choose train journey because you can see places closer unlike on a plane where you can see only clouds and the aerial view of houses and places. in terms of time, i'd choose a plane, maybe because it's faster than a train.

as far as safety aspect is concerned travelling by train or plane have equal risks. i usually take a direct train when i go to my native place or for a vacation. now a days domestic airways are not too expensive to afford once a while to experience plane journey.

Frankly speaking, I do not have the opportunity to travel by Plane. So, I can't really compare which one is better, Plane or Train. But, train journey has a special attraction. I love to get a window-side seat and watch out the landscape rushing down the track - the far away horizon that salutes the mother earth - giant trees racing back - the village lads staring at the running train with curiosity - gossips that we have during the journeys with fellow passengers - it really gives me immense pleasure.
A journey by train simply refreshes my mind, tickles my imaginations and motivates me a lot.
May be, if there were any option, I would prefer Train to Plane.

I would like to take a train ride as I have never been on a train. It sounds like fun; however, there are few trains here in Texas and they are expensive. I do not think that I could ever get my wife on an airplane.

It would definately have to be a train journey, I won't fly. It's that simple, I just won't do it. I feel that if I were meant to fly, I'd have wings. I don't understand how it can be safe at all. And yes, you can get into crashes in cars and trains and on boats. However, when that happens, I'm not falling 30,000 feet on top of it all. In a boat, I can swim well enough to keep afloat. After all, I don't sink, I've got too much body fat to do so. And a train is relaxing. And comfortable. And not nearly as long of a delay.
