Tips for recycling plastic #1

Do you know if you can take plastic shopping bags #1 and milk jugs and shampoo bottles #1 to a recycling center and they will take them mixed together? Or do that have to be seperated?? They are both #1 so it shouldn't matter should it? I have no idea, just looking for help!

I use to put my plastic shopping bags in the recycling bin at the grocery story but a friend told me that we could put them in the recycling with #1 and #2's. So I have been doing this. Our recycling is picked up, I don't drop it off.
